Had a dr appt yesterday he said that the boys look good and they are both almost 2lbs woohooo. he said i need to be off my feet as much as possible and only get up to potty and shower. He also gave me Terbutaline 2.5mg pills to take every 4hrs. my question is to all of you on terb. how does it make u feel? since i started taking the pills yesterday it seems like i have more braxton hicks now than i was having before and im not doing anything else differently. I know that the terb is not suppose to make me have BH so im wondering if im just adjusting to the meds and that im just uncomfortable instead of actually havin a BH. This morning I had 3 in an hr but dr said to not go to hospital unless they are 10min apart so i didnt worry about them. I just want to know everyone elses experience with the meds and how they made u feel?? thanks ladies ;)

I was on terb with my first son and it held off the contractions in frequency some, but eventually I contracted right through it. I'm on Procardia this time and my contractions have started back up with it too. I don't want to go off of it completely because I wonder if I would be worse without it.
As far as how terb made me feel, at first it was that whole shaky weird feeling, but I was on the terb pump and it gives low doses constantly and after awhile, I couldn't tell I was on it at all!
Sorry you're dealing with all of this!
    Hang in there!

I started it at 29 weeks. I didn't notice more BH while I was on it, but I didn't notice less either -- I still had several per hour sometimes.

Other than that, the main side effect was that it made me jittery. Not emotionally nervous, but physically shaky. It was hard to write neatly for the first several days because my hands shook, and I could feel my heart pounding. (The doctor actually had me take my pulse several times a day for the first couple of weeks that I was on it -- I was supposed to call her if it went over 120 or something.) I also had a mild headache. But after the first week or so, the side effects faded away until I didn't notice them.

I was in the hospital for PTL and they gave me a shot of turb. and it actually increased my contractions. You may want to talk to your doctor and see about changing meds. I was switched to Pocardia, but my doc. took me totally off it yesterday and I am noticing a major increase in contractions. But, try talking to your doctor.

I had to take Terb from 28 weeks until 36, and I felt like I was on crack. It made me nervous, jittery...and to me, I was still having a lot of contractions. However, they gave me another medicine to counteract the side effects of Terb. So I slept! LOL! I was on strict bedrest anyway...

I would talk to your Doctor to see if you can have something to help with the side effects of it.

  6. I was also jittery and had a racing heart while on terb. It made me feel all panicky inside. I finally had to switch to procardia when I began to break through with my contractions again. I think it was like 4 weeks on terb and 2 weeks on procardia....
    Hope you feel better soon!

It made me feel terrible, not more contractions just very jittery and nervous. I was switched to Procardia because the Terb wasn't working that well and it made me feel horrible. I never had any problems with the procardia. If you keep getting more contrax call your doctor the Terb may just not be working.
