Terbutaline and Constipation

Hi ladies,

For those that have taken terbutaline, did you experience constipation or hard stools (sorry, TMI)? I have been taking terb on as needed basis (once a day) but recently the intake has increased to 2-3X per day to control my contractions. My "behind" is bleeding due to a recurring anal fissure (sorry, TMI again).

i'm not on terbutaline, but am definitely constipated...lol. it's gotten worse for me since last week. i do have IBS, so i've never really been great in the digestive department. i'm pushing the water, eating prunes and lots of fruit, taking one colace a day (even though you can take three, i believe), and even though i'm on bed rest, i try to stretch out my walks to the bathroom to help get things moving. i'm finding that bed rest does not help constipation! sorry if all of this is TMI...

 

I know exactly how you feel. I was on terbutaline while pregnant with the twins, and I was always constipated. Just make sure you have plenty of fiber in your diet. I will be honest though it didn't help me much Sorry I guess I am not much help but I know how you feel.

 

I did not notice a correlation. I did take Senokot though and that helped to keep things moving!

 

I received colace and peri-colace when I was in the hospital. It seemed to help. I would talk to your doc.
