After spending 10 weeks on bedrest,8 of those in the hospital on the terb pump. My question is for those of you who had the terb pump, how long after pulling it did you go into labor. The removed my pump at 34 weeks and its now been 4 days since that and nothing is happening. I know for the babies sake the longer they are in the better but i'm just now curious how necassary was the hospital bedrest and terb pump?

Congrats on making it to so far with your twin pregnancy!!! I'm surprised they took you off the pump already though, usually they keep them in until 36 weeks. I had a terb pump for 12 1/2 weeks with my singleton pregnancy. I was taken off the pump and off home bed-rest at 36 weeks....I went into labor THAT day and had my soon the next. That being said, I probably should've been smarter about the whole thing since I went on a HUGE shopping spree the day I was off bedrest (could you blame a girl after 12 weeks?)...so I think I probably completely shocked my body.

If I end up on a pump and bedrest again, I will either go off bedrest before the pump is out or take a few days of rest while getting off the pump and then becoming more active.

Hope you make it to 36 weeks!!!!!! GL!!!!

I was on the pump and on strict bed rest for 12 weeks with my twins. My peri took me off at 36 weeks. I went into false labor that same day, but lasted another 6 days before I went into labor and delivered. I didn't "try" to induce labor, I still wasn't up for moving around much being that pregnant and uncomfortable, but I did go up and down steps several times a day as I was told I could go off bedrest at that point. I too wondered if it was necessary to be on the pump for that long, but also didn't want to have my babies at 24 weeks if I could avoid it. They still had NICU time at 36w6d. Good luck!

I don't have any insight to add but just wanted to ask what a terb pump is and what the exact purpose of it is? I'm assuming it has something to do with keeping contractions at bay. But just curious! :)

I was on the terb pump for 6 weeks with my first (singleton). The day I went off it I went for my 36 week check up and they realized I had pre-e so I was induced that day. They told me they didn't even have half a bag of pitocin in me before I was fully dialated. So I guess it wouldn't have been time.

To pp: The terb pump is a small machine you carry in a small bag that keeps pumping the terbutaline in you through a line in your thigh. You have to switch the line every 2-3 days (at least I did). It was more effective than the pill.

    Good luck!
