:umm: Oh my goodness has the fun began. DS is throwing himself down, banging his head on the floor and kicking his feet repeatedly. Over nothing, over his sister having a toy and not sharing, over the microwave ringing, over a hair across his !!! With DS, I ignored them but these are pretty bad. I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself! H-E-L-P!! Ignoring them doesn't stop him, if he's on the hard wood I pick him up and put him on the area rug just so he has cushion to fall on. I really don't know what else to do. He's not very vocal so I can't even ask what is wrong (and expect an answer!)

I am in the SAME boat!! Emma has been like this for a while and it is so hard! I'm sorry I have no advice, I just wanted to let you know I have huge amounts of empathy!!

Just pick a spot and call it whatever your name for it is (ours is the "fit carpet") and then put them there and let him rip!!! Tell him he can come out when he's done. Make it away from the action and a little out of range if possible! :hug99:

Well at least he has some good company. I was just so taken aback but the obvious tantrum that I didn't know what to do. Dianne, I like your idea and kind of did that this evening. When he was done, I asked if he felt better then he sat in my lap for a second. I'm just not looking forward to more of these and oh my gosh when they both get going!!

I really think a lot of tantrums are because they understand but can't communicate. I thought a friends gift of a baby sign language book was hokey but honestly, i am a true believer!!!! Do your babies know simple signs like food, drink, sorry etc? There are some great links online which show you how to do it. The babies pick up SO quickly.....maybe it would help if he could express some of his wants! It has made a huge difference in our world!

DS is pretty fluent in sign (DD is VERY vocal and does sign as well.) He does all the basics plus animals, food types, places and actions. He knows hurt, sleepy, share, hungry and thirsty, all the things he would get upset over. He just flipped out last night over the smallest things. Today none of those things bothered him! Go figure!

We went through this too with Bea. I had to just put her somewhere safe and let her have her tantrum. Usually it was the crib. Being alone and not having an audience helped her get over it quicker. Sorry, it's a rough phase!

I just started this I have to keep putting him back He likes for me to have a ring side seat to a tantrum but when he is done I get a quick cuddle and all is good His main problem is expessing himself DD can very well abd will sometimes show/tell me what he wants but she wont always do it and I dont want him to get used to that .

cameron's going through a particularly bad bout of this right now - he has phases where he throws tantrums at the LITTLEST thing - totally unpredictable. if i know what set him off, i try to help him understand he has to share or whatever. but when he can't get over himself i remove him to another part of the room out of the action and let him know that when he is ready to stop crying he can come cuddle with mama, but if he's going to have a tantrum he needs to go to the playroom/sit on the couch/ whatever. if he keeps going on for a few minutes i might go ask him if he's ready to stop crying and have a cuddle and he usually says yes. but he seems to need to get it out of his system first. good luck!
