Okay, whoever suggested that there may need to be a 12-step program for stroller addicts may have been on to something.

Fred Meyer (Kroger) is advertising the Step 2 Wagon for Two Plus in their weekly add for $40. I know it's awful, but I almost feel obligated to buy it at this price. We are planning trips to the zoo, local farms, etc this summer where I could see us using it (but had planned on just using a stroller).

How old were your kids when the wagon became a doable option?
When is it your prefered conveyence?
Why do you like/hate your wagon?

I would consider it. I wish mine had seatbelts. If it did it would get a lot more use. Are your kids walking? When we did the zoo last month, E&E wore their backpacks (leashes) and walked. We pulled the wagon all day for the diaper bag.

Technically, yes...but we're still in Frankenstein mode, so they'd certainly enjoy getting out for some "walking", but would never make it all over a zoo on their own. ;)

We have a wagon that they play with in the yard. We have a pretty big back yard and we used to pull them around there in it. Now, at 2 and 1/2, they like to pull it around, put things in it, etc. We never used it in place of our strollers.

That sounds like a really good deal! I was thinking of getting a wagon for their birthday.

The only current downside I see is your children right now are younger than the recommended age but that isn't saying that it isn't a good buy for in a few months from now!

That isn't the wagon we had but the key for me was also the seatbelts which it appears this model now has. I would just look carefully to make sure the version you are purchasing includes the seatbelts. The part about it 'now' including them makes me nervous that they might be trying to sell of some of the older versions that don't have them. I just breezed real quickly so I may have missed it but on Amazon I don't see the seat belts mentioned in the description ( I did see a review mention the seatbelts though). For me no seatbelts would have been a deal breaker no matter what the cost. I am the only adult and take K&K out alone all the time. The fact that I usually pull the wagon as opposed to push it makes it so that I can not always see the children, turning around can be dangerous when walking, and having them belted gave me comfort and security in my mind.

I have a different wagon (Radio Flyer Pathfinder) but I wanted to say we use the heck out of it and have since last Summer. Now, when they start to get tired of running around the yard or they think I'm about to make them go back inside, they'll climb in the wagon and fasten their seatbelts (and I agree strongly with the PP who said seatbelts are a must). Mostly we use the wagon for tours of our ranch but I've taken it to the park also. I have noticed that they enjoy facing each other while riding in their wagon and so they seem content to stay in it longer than in their stroller.

We have the radio flyer wagon as well and we used it a ton last summer. We have lots of parks within a 5-10 min walk and we used it to take them there. I think this summer might be more of a challenge since they are bigger and heavier than last year. Our also have seat belts and I agree that it is a must to have them at any age.

We have the Radio Flyer (similair only red) and it has seatbelts. LOVE IT ...girls prefer it to the stroller for walks and short trips (I even walked them to the polls in it up to Vote last Tuesday!).

We got an umbrella attachement to give it some shade.

I can already tell it will get a lot of use!

It think it depends one what kind of area you live in and the activities you do! But still...it is a good deal regardless!

We have the Radio Flyer Family Wagon and I LOVE it!!! Reasons I like it are:

    * babies face each other & interact more

    * room by the feet for toys, blankets, sippy cups, etc

    * they have a little more room to move around

    * they can eat in it & make a mess b/c all I have to do is hose it off in the driveway!

We've only had ours for about 3 weeks now, but already we've just used the heck out of it. For this summer, it's going to be a must-have! And $40 is an amazing price. Ours was about $120, I think.

Wagons are great! I use mine exclusively now.

I do want to pass along a safety tip though: Watch the load it's carrying and watch who's pulling the wagon. We had ours out this weekend because David likes to pull it. The wagon ended up at the top of a slight incline with my daughter pulling it. David was sitting at the back and a 5 yr old neighbor kid was in the front. When she was pulling downhill, she lost control and it went off the sidewalk and off the curb. It tipped forward and the kids tumbled out. Luckily David ended up on top of the neighbor kid. Had it been the other way around, I don't even want to think about what could have happened.

We did the SAME thing this weekend! I would recommend the stroller...but definitely get one with seatbelts for the age your are at. We got ours last summer when my girls were the age of you twins...we NEEDED the seatlbelts. This year, we can get away without them. Great for zoo trips and stuff like that though where they can easily get in and out! $40 is a STEAL!

Thanks for the input, guys. I couldn't agree more that the seatbelts are a must for this purchase. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. :)

We got our wagon when the kids were around that age. We got the Radio Flyer ATW wagon, which does not have seatbelts and has larger all-terrain tires.

We wanted something that we could use at the beach and so the tires on that wagon were perfect. They never try to climb out, and so that has never been an issue. Now that they are bigger, there is less space for their feet, but it suits our needs because half the time one is walking and we have room for gear in the wagon instead.

On a side note, DH takes to the kids to the park a few times a week in the wagon. He has never liked the stroller and so they kind of associate the wagon with daddy!

Hi there! I saw your stroller post and was wondering if you had tried a wagon. We got the girls a Radio Flyer with the flip up seat backs, belts and canopy. They love it! We use it for short walks and most errands. Ours has cup holders (4) and quite a bit of storage (behind one of the seats and under their feet). Their feet dangle, so we keep two large beach towels folded down in the storage area under their feet so they can rest on them. I can say that I have NEVER heard a peep out of them (whiney peep) when they are in it! The hard plastic doesn't look that comfortable to me, but they don't seem to care.

The only downside I can think of is if you have a hard time getting things done because of all of the 'twin' conversations, you most definitely will not go unnoticed in this thing! Good luck! Stephanie

I love our wagon. It's a two seater but we've fit four in it for shorter rides. The thing I love best about it is the canopy top. When it's a sunny day at the zoo or the park, it's a lifesaver to have the shade. I'd hold out for that.

I got the new fischer price wagon thing-I think they call it a kid utility vehicle..its bigger than a wagon (the seats) and the side are low so it makes it MUCH easier for the kids to get in and out...it has seatbelts, plus canopies for sun protection....I found the link for it....I bought mine at Toys R Us.....we got soooo many comments a the zoo the other weekend....we also have a wagon and will use this instead from now on.....

I love them but I would prefer to have one with seat beats. I am thinking of adding seat belts to ours (courtesy of a drill and finding some used seat beats on ebay).

We have that wagon and we love it, the girls are so amazed with it. We're going to the Zoo in a couple weeks so I'll let you know how it works.
