At the beginning I thought that they were ID, but then they seemed to look very different. Lately people have been telling me that they are ID and I should get them tested. 2 of the people were a nurse and a drs's assistant. So Here's a pic! Tell me what you think!

The pic is a little fuzzy on my computer, but they look ID to me. Could you get a closer shot?

In that picture they look like one baby that is mirror-imaged. My two almost never look identical to us because their personalities make such a big difference in how they look. They are identical though. It's a little bit harder for a parent to tell (then again strangers can have a hard time too and will insist that babies with different hair colors are identical [IMG]).

From that pic I would say Identical. But then again I have had people insist that mine are even though they are b/g.

On the show "Multiples in the Womb," they said there can actually be identical b/g twins. The egg starts out with an extra chromosome, so it's an XXY, and when it splits it drops one of the X chromosomes, and you end up with an XX and an XY. Strange, but possible!

I didnt see the show because we dont get that channel but that doesnt sound right to me. Everything I have ever heard says that a mans sperm determines the babies sex. All eggs are the same XX and that the only way a Y gets in there is from the sperm. Although I could be wrong that is what I have always been told.

It is exetremely rare but B/G twins CAN be ID. The girl pair of the twins is usually very sick. I beleive that the girl almost always dies within the first 5 years of life. [IMG]

I guess you won't know for sure unless you get their zygosity tested.

I know mine are ID because they shared the amnion.

Yours look very similar in the photo. Mine don't look ID because one is 5 lbs. larger.

No, you're right. Sorry - I didn't write it correctly. The show stated that once the egg is fertilized, it starts out as an xxy, and then drops an x chromosome when it splits.

I watched that multiples in the womb show too, and realized how incredibly rare that must be to have b/g ID twins. But then I also realized that if an XXY egg doesn't split into twins then the child is a boy with Kleinfelter's syndrome and is born sterile. Genetics is a crazy science!!
