Tell me about the school bus and pencil

I've seen the school bus and pencil icon, on a few signatures. These people all seem to have twins finishing up kindergarten. Is this an icon for a buddy club, or is it for members who have kindergarteners? Or something else?

 

Its for kids in the class of 2020.

Question - is it supposed to be centered on the siggy, or is that personal preference?

You know us, no real rules, I just liked how it looked in the center
