Hi Mommies,

Do you think it is ok to let your sons watch regularly shows on playhouse Disney or other channels where the star characters are girls like "strawberry shortcacke" shows for instance?

Absolutely! My DS is obsessed with Ni Hao, Ki-Lan. He absolutely adores her. I think there is nothing wrong with letting boys watch shows with girl main characters and vice versa for girls.

 

I not only think it's okay, I think it's a really good thing! Boys and girls need role-models of both sexes. Half the world is female and I think it's important that men learn early on that women can be "stars" too.

it's perfectly fine to let them enjoy "girl" shows and "boy" shows.

I agree with Valerie. For me personally, I let them watch what they like (unless I think the show is completely mindless ). My boys favorite show right now is Dora. They also love Kai Lan.
