The boys are almost 9 months so I know teething can come very soon. How do I know? Right now they are both awake crying in their cribs- I have done everything I know to do to get them to settle back down. Jeremiah has a lot of drool, but this is the first night that he has had this. He doenst have alot during the day. They chew on everything, but I figured that is normal baby things. I bought some hylands teething tablets for when that day comes, but i don't know if I should use it if I am not sure it is teeth or not...

    help!!!

I am not exactly sure how you know if it's teething or not. This is what I do...

If they are screaming like they are in pain, I take their temperature, if it's a little high I give them tyenol. My babies have never been colicy, but if your baby/babies have, then that might be a reason they are crying. I always have baby orajel on hand, and if the tynol doesn't calm them down (if they have a fever) then I put that on their gums. If they have white bumps on their gums, it's probably teething related, especially since they are chewing and drooling a lot. Try baby orajel, I've never personally tried the tablets. It could also be them fighting their sleep, my son has done that for about two weeks now, every time during night time, he will cry for like 30-40 mins!!!!!

The boys have never been colic (thankfully) and they have never fought bedtime.... I guess that is why it is out of the ordinary...

They went to bed at 8 and they woke up at 11 crying... they have settled back down, so I hope they stay asleep.

Check tomorrow to see if their gums (most likey on the bottom) are swollen. If they are cranky during the day just give them a little tylenol and a cold cloth to chew on. Mine have their bottom two teeth already and were very cranky for a month before getting them. They were fine for a few weeks after they were in and now they are getting fussy again and i noticed their top left center gums are swollen now...sigh.
Anyways if it isn't teething, did you change anything from their routine today? That's sometimes will effect my boys sleep at night.

I don't think the teething tablets are harmful to give, so maybe give it to them and if it turns out no teeth came in then oh well. But most likely they are teething. Mine just went through a teething stage and now have their 2 top and bottom teeth and are so much more PLEASANT to be around now that they've popped through. Good luck!

Lily got her first bottom tooth the weekend before Christmas. She had been drooling like crazy for a week, so bad that she had to wear a bib all day to avoid multiple wardrobe changes, and rubbing everything she could across her gums. Plus her checks were pink, but no fever. On Saturday and Sunday she was just so irritable that Sunday afternoon I finally thought to check her mouth and there was the first tooth popping through. On Christmas eve the one next to it started to come through. My mom and mil said the bottom two teeth almost always come in together.

Max has started with the drooling and rubbing everything on his gums, so I am assuming he is not far behind. The last two days he has had rosy cheeks too.

Tylenol and baby orajel really helped us, especially when Lily didn't want to take her bottle because her gum were so sore. I hope they feel better soon and you see or feel a tooth. It is like a relief when you know why they were so fussy.

We suspect teething when they are drooling a lot and chewing on everything. Mine will also tug on their ears and you can tell when the gums look red that something is going on. If Tylenol does not settle them, we use Baby Orajel and teething tablets which help a lot. Mine would run slight fevers with teething, so you would want to also check their temperature. It does sound like yours might be starting to teethe!

My girls are just turning 8mths and already have 4 teeth each. I use the Humphries teething tablets and have used them for all 3 of my kids. I usually give them 3 before bed and honestly their teething hasn't been a problem at all.

How did they do with their last bottles? When mine have an ear infection they will hardly take any. They want it because they are hungry but they will take a couple of sips and toss the bottle but with teething they usually will still take some. I LOVE the teething tablets. The orajel just makes them cry more because of the weird feeling they get from the numbing. If it seems to be an ear infection we give tylenol and the earache drops (those seem to help also).

We can tell from their cry if it's pain related. If we are not sure we pick them up and if they smile and act like they want to play then they just want to be up. In that case it's back to bed. If they still seem fussy after picking them up and not themselves then I know something is not right. So, I take their temp (thank god for the forehead thermometers - love them!) and I also check their gums. If it's a fever I give them motrin or tylenol and hold them to comfort them as long as it takes. Sometimes it means they are sleeping with us that night. Whatever it takes to make them feel good.

Good luck - I know it's not fun at all ((HUGS)) Teething and ear infections suck!
