We're new to this teething thing, and Avery already has two teeth shining on the bottom in the middle. They haven't broken the skin yet, but you can clearly see them. She doesn't seem to be in a ton of pain, but she's crankier than usual. They are BOTH drooling like crazy, and although I can't see any teeth (or feel them) from Kenadee, she is drooling even more than Avery (who has the teeth on the bottom that I can see about to come in). They don't seem to be hurting, but they are extra cranky at times and sleep a little more during the day than they used to. Does anyone have any advice for teethers? We have a couple of the teething rings that you keep in the fridge. They love them, but they don't stay cold very long at all, and they don't like them once they're warm (or room temperature). They say not to freeze those b/c they make sharp corners and can cut their lips. Any other helpful hints? Do you use baby orajel? Do you give Tylenol? Is fever a side effect of teething? I just need some info and some tips if you have them. Thanks!

I too am going through the teething thing, only one of mine is not sttn like he used to! At 6 months they can have baby motrin which in my opinion works better than tylenol. I have also resorted to giving them a large carrot stick or celery stick to chew on and I also let them chew on the rubber topper of a medicine bottle (like tylenol) of course there is no medicine in it but they like to chew on the rubber part. Someone wrote about this a couple of weeks ago-you might want to look back through the posts :)

I give Tylenol if they are super fussy. Since yours are under 6 months old they can't have Motrin yet. I also give them lots of things to chew on... plastic teether toys mostly. You could also put some wet wash clothes in the fridge and let them bite on that too. :hug99: to your lil teethers.

We are going through this also! My girls are 5 1/2 months - I was given the ok to go ahead and give Motrin. A couple of people at work told me that teething tablets work really well. You find them near the Orajel in stores. I haven't tried them but they are supposed to dissolve in the mouth instantly.

I would also suggest Highland Teething Tablets!

Tylenol and frozen washcloths helped us a ton. I hope they feel better soon!

I had one who was very fussy and one not as bad. The fussy teether I noticed it when from one hand in the mouth to 2 hands in the mouth. I gave her tylenol every 4 hours plus teething gel. (we teethed early before they were Motrin age) I put a dry washcloth in their mouth first then snuck my finger in with the gel. --- applying the gel to a more dry surface. Really give that tylenol first thing when they wake up and then count the hours (for those painful teethers) I found in the evenings they felt the pain more. When I was on top of the pain relief they were happy babies. Sometimes if the pain gets out of control it is so much more difficult to bring it down.

When they were old enough for Motrin I'd give them tylenol AM Motrin at Mid Afternoon, then tylenol again later. Seemed to work for us.

For the less fussy I tried to still give her every 6 hours something to make sure she was coping ok.

My girls didnt' like the cloths in the freezer but more a rubbery toy. Something gummy.

    good luck

    Heather
