    Hi,

My babbas are both teething and seem to be really suffering with it, i'm giving them all i can to ease it. We had lots of tears from Amber yesterday she seemed really irritated and was extra cuddly which isn't so bad for me as i love cuddles. Ruby isn't suffering as much but she is off her milk, she takes a couple of ounces and then chews the nipple, but she is still eating solids. Ruby loves her solids to the point where i had to cut back on them as she wasn't drinking enough milk. Now that she is teething and is obviously off her milk because of the pain do i allow her to eat lots of solids so she has had something rather than not alot of either? tia

How about trying some Tylenol to see if that eases the pain? Or a frozen washcloth for them to chew on before you offer them a bottle and see if that helps. I would hesitant to replace the formula with solids. I would call your Ped and see what they want you to do.

Thanks Rachel! She is on Ibruprofen and i think it gives some relief and i do give them wash cloths, they seem to love it! I think i'll continue to offer her milk and her normal amount of solids and if she is still taking very little i'll take her in to the drs. In the uk we have a national health service and you can't just ring your dr or ped for advice unfortunately, i would be able to get an appointment if she is off her food though so we'll see what tonight and tommorow brings. I they come through soon for them.

when DS was teething, he totally refused his bottle which was very upsetting for me. so i just mixed his bottle with enough cereal to make it spoonable and fed it to him that way. he ate it right up and i felt much better knowing that he was still getting his formula. it took a lot longer and he was a total mess by the end but it worked.

    good luck! teething sucks!

Thats a really good idea! I will be spoon feeding her milk while she is refusing her bottle :) I really don't mind the mess. I know babies will drink when they are hungry enough but i spend most of my day worrying over how much they are eating or not as the case maybe this will put my mind at rest thankyou!!

I found if I alternated between the Ibuprofen and the Tylenol so that they got a dose of either right before meal time, they would eat better. Ibuprofen is safe to give once every six hours and Tylenol is safe once every four hours (no more than 5 doses/24 hour period though). Also, have you tried Hyland's Teething Tablets?? They work great!!

They are very tiny easily dissolvable tablets, I just popped them in the mouth and they would dissapear. I'm not sure about the powder though, I've never seen it available here.

Oh right thanks, i will google it and see if they are available here in the uk. We have been using herbal powders but i'm not sure that they are helping.
