My little Rose just poked her first upper tooth through yesterday [the right fang, lol]. For the past few days she hasn't been finishing her bottles. [MIL likes to joke around by saying, "Little miss Rose, never misses a meal! :D"] She's about a pound heavier than her sister and it's so unlike her to only finish 2 oz of her 6.5 oz bottles.

Do you think it's because of the teething that's messing with her appetite? She's been really craby lately and I've been giving her IB profien for the pain and discomfort, but it doesn't seem to help her completely. She cries when I try to feed her, then sometimes she'll finish her bottle. Also, how long do I have the pleasure of dealing with this for? Does anyone know?

    Thanks!

Those eye teeth are buggars! It probably is her teeth effecting her appetite. Have you tried applying Orajel before her bottles?

I haven't tried that yet.. Maybe I'll give that a try. I thought the bottle would feel good on her gums.

When they chew on their bottles it probably feels good because they can control it, but when they suck it kind of pulls(OUCH! Makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it!) and puts a different kind of pressure on their gums.

Yup, teething can make eating not so fun for them! My ds was always a very reluctant nurser when he was teething.

Wouldn't not eating as much make them also dehydrated? I tried the oragel and it worked somewhat.

The only way I knew a new tooth was coming in was when their formula intake decreased. My Jake had a really tough time drinking when the tooth was coming in. Have you started letting them try sippy cups yet? I introduced them with just water around 9 months and that may help ease your fear of dehydration.

How much is she taking in total in a day? Still having wet diapers?

She's still having wet diapers and has been taking in about 25 oz a day [as opposed to the 30-35 oz they normally have].

We started with sippy cups about a week and a half ago. They're in the process of playing with them and chewing on the rubber tops: http://s66.photobucket.com/albums/h241/Hal...ies8mos2wks.flv They'll drink out of it mostly if I tip it back for them. [they're still getting the hang of it.. just don't know that they have to tip it back yet]
