I definetly think ds is teething. Today he was bitting/sucking the handle of his high chair! poor baby..and keeps on rubbing the nipple of
his bottle (making it harder to feed him)

he does not like the cold teething rings.
    What else do you use?

When I was at CVS I read the orajel thing and it said not to give it for more than 7 days.

When my girls were really little they loved to chew on wash cloths. I would usually put them in the freezer for a bit, but if they don't like the cold you could just wet them and let them go at it.

We have used Hyland's teething tablets. I love them, but they don't always work with everyone. I have two kids that loved them and two others that they did nothing for.

I would use the orajel as needed. Most likely you won't need to use it 7 days in a row.

You can also give tylenol or advil/motrin. I found that advil was a life saver. It lasts a lot longer than the tylenol and helps reduce the swelling as well.

My two like the teethers but not cold. So I just leave them out for them to chew on. Another favorite are the little links you use to hang toys from. There are some that are coated in a softer material that my DD loves to chew on while teething.

Sometimes they just like chewing on a spoon. I think the metal feels good on their gums as well.

    HTH!

Motrin worked best with us. It only took us forever to figure that out! Our guys really did not care to chew on anything to releive the pain, so Motrin did the trick!

teething tablets didn't do a thing for my kids.

I liked Motrin the best, but I think you can only use it after 6 months.

Becky, you're right Motrin can be used after 6 months. We found that very helpful after 6 months! Tylenol was also helpful before 6 months and teething tablets were and still are a lifesaver. I have seen the Hylands brand and Little Teethers also makes a teething tablets. I also found teething rings, cool pacifers (about the only time mine would take one), washclothes to also be very helpful and something for them to chew on. Good luck!

Motrin was the only thing that really seemed to help my girls.

Same here and some Motrin or Tylenol on some days was the only thing that helped.
