right now, my girls are both teething really badly, Lorien has gotten 4 teeth within the past 3-4 weeks and Arwen just got one coming in last week with more top teeth very close to cutting. They have been very clingy to me lately and at night, Arwen, who used to always pretty much go down without any problem is all of a sudden crying so desperately when we leave her in her crib during naps and nighttime. I am trying to just let them CIO but sometimes she just sounds so incredibly desperate and scared and admittedly we have gone in to console her. She usually NEVER cries unless she really gets hurt. Is this a typical phase during teething? Is it seperation anxiety? Should I not be doing CIO at this time?? Tonight, Lorien did it to me so now I don't know what to do :unknw:

Just wondering if you are giving them anything to ease the pain/discomfort of new teeth coming in?

During the day I gave my guys Hyland teething tablets, and if they were noticeably uncomfortable at bedtime (i.e. excessive drooling, chewing on their fingers) I would give them Tylenol. I am not a big believer in giving meds, but I felt that getting a good nights sleep was most important (not to mention it must hurt to have something pushing through your gums!)

I make sure I have medicated them before bed and nap when they are teething, and then I let them be. Going in and checking on them, taking them out of the cribs, etc, is not going to make their pain go away, so why do it? I don't mean to sound heartless, of course it hurts me to know that they might be in pain, but it really doesn't do any good. It is hard to know sometimes if it is teething pain or separation anxiety. Any time I have gone back in repeatedly, I end up having to do CIO over again. Make sure you give the meds (I do Tylenol and Orajel) about 30 min before bed so it has time to work before putting them down.

We're going thru the same thing here (sep. anxiety + 6 teeth each in the space of 1 month).

Nick went through about 3 weeks of SCREAMING all night long and clinging/whining all day long. Well, changing of the guards, Nick is over it and now Joe is clinging/whining all day.
