Just wondering if anyone had experience with Hylands Teething Tablets?

I just picked some up in sheer desperation of SLEEP tonight, but am hoping to hear that others have had good experience with them. Also, what dose did you typically do? My DS has been STTN but lately is just up 'playing' at night, so I'm wondering if it's maybe not his teeth. I'm not sure, but I'm DESPERATE! I hate to keep giving him Ibuprofen & Orajel when I'm unsure if that's his problem and when they don't seem to be helping anyway.

    TIA!

I lived and breathed the teething tablets with my son!! It calmed him down almost immediately. We never had a problem like the pp. How weird. But then again, every baby is different. And what I like is you can still give them tylenol also (if needed, we never also needed tylenol with the teething tablets) because it's all homeopathic.

I tried them a few times, and I noticed no effect at all. Usually I'd stick one in the baby's mouth, she'd spit it back out (already dissolving), and I'd wipe it back in. It's not too surprising that they didn't work.

Advil or Tylenol were always our best bets.

When my girls are really fussy and chewing on everything the tablets seem to help. When they're just up playing or waking up at night, the tablets don't help much. The playing and waking probably isn't related to teething for us, but I had to try just in case!

I usually give three tablets, and the most I've ever done is twice a day. We haven't needed them more than that.

    Good luck!

Here is where you can find what the box looks like. I get mine from a local health store.

We have both also, and have had good luck with both...the gel is SO much better than Orajel, because there's either a better taste, or no taste at all. We rub it on the pacifier to get it in their mouth.

I bought mine at Walgreens, but I think I've also maybe seen them at Target? I forget.

My DH gave them to my DS tonight before bed, but I'm at work, so I don't know how it's going. Hopefully ok! I was sooo happy when they were both STTN, but I'm HATING this up all the time again business! I'm so tired...again....;). But, I wouldn't want to push teeth through & I'm sure that'd wake ME up, so I feel for them. Poor babies.

    I'll keep ya posted!

We have them and I used them a couple of times. They seemed to work. I am sure over the next couple of weeks, we will use them more and more.

My pedi warned me that they may cause hallucinations in babies.....hwo the HECK would they know that????????? Whatever.

I checked excessively about these in desperation also. I found one story on someone's child getting belladonna poisoning from them. (Hence the hallucinations)Rare but possible. After I saw over and over people swearing by them I still didn't trust it after that story (went researching belladonna etc too) found it in gripe water and a few other homeopathic remedies. I then called my ped to see what she said and it was a no. They don't know enough about them and to stick to tylenol for the pain. I think if you google about these tablets and belladonna poisoning that lady's ordeal comes up. Like I said it was a rare occurance (she had used them for a while but then got one tablet with a bit much belladonna in it and that's what did it) and I know I was looking for ANYTHING to help these poor babies but please look into it a bit more. I was so disappointed after hearing people rave about it I thought I found the wonder drug.

Like Jillangel, I did a lot of research before deciding to give my girls Hyland's Teething Tablets. The only negative thing I could find was that one story about belladonna poisoning. That story is everywhere, but there's no real name given, and no news stories, so I'm personally a bit suspicious. It's like an urban legend. People can post anything they want on the Internet and none of us have any way to prove whether what they say is true or not. I decided to give my girls the tablets after researching and looking on Hyland's website. Here's what Hyland's has posted:

"An Internet post has come to our attention stating that a child had a reaction to the Belladonna in Hyland’s Teething Tablets. While we do not have the details of the incident, we want to provide you the following information.

Hyland’s is a reputable manufacturer of homeopathic drugs since 1903. In the more than 60 years that Hyland’s Teething Tablets have been on the market, we have received no significant adverse events reports related to the product. In addition, the American Association of Poison Control Centers has told Hyland’s that it has received no report of a serious adverse reaction to Teething Tablets.

Our #1 priority as a company has always been providing safe, effective healthcare to our consumers, especially the children that we serve. Our pharmacist is available 24/7 at 1-800-624-9659 to provide emergency information to consumers and the medical community. As an FDA-regulated drug manufacturer, we adhere to all mandated standards and practices to ensure the highest quality product. Please feel free to contact us at the same number with any concerns. More information on Hyland’s Teething Tablets is available in the document below."

I'm not sure if that statement will make anyone considering the tablets feel better, but I thought it was a pretty strong (and convincing) statement from a manufacturer about the safety of it's product.
