I was wondering what exactly the symptoms are for teething. One of my boys drools all the time to the point of soaking through his shirt in a matter of minutes, chews on his hands occasionally, and has screaming spells. I'm not sure if he is teething or not since they are only three months old. Is this too early for teething? If he is teething can I use teething tablets or Orajel at this age? What are some other things we can do to help ease the discomfort? I have tried a teething ring but the ones I have are too large for him to fit into his mouth.

    TIA

Could be teething... but that is early... of course I have seen many posts about kids getting teeth at 4 months!

It can take up to a month after symptoms start to see a tooth finally peeping through, so you never know.

Also, pedi's say a lot of the time teething symptoms are confused with ear infections.

They are young but it can definately be teething. My ds started the drooling/eating his fists to no end at 3 months but didn't get his first tooth until 6 months! That was alot of drool! I didn't give him any meds bc he didn't seem uncomfortable most of the time, when he wouldn't sleep because it seemed like he NEEDED to eat his fists, I would give him some tylenol. Also a cold washcloth (teething ring was to big for him too} was a favorite for a while. I never gave the teething tablets or orajel, so I can't help there. Hope he feels better soon!!! Teething sucks!

We are going through the same thing with Geneva right now. I was actually getting ready to come on and post almost the same exact thing. Too funny!! Not only do they share a birthday but they are doing some of the same things. :)

Tons of drooling and chewing everything...especially their hands. My DS has been chewing on his hands for weeks now and his two teeth are just now popping through!!

    same here -

Jake chews on his fist and Becca makes chewing motions and stuffs her fist into her mouth. She has also started drooling - but I found a site online that said this is not teething, but normal development.

Sounds like teething, babies can cut teeth at any time...MIL was born with a tooth  Anyways, mine get really fussy, drool all over the place, chew on everything, sometimes a slight fever and more poopy diapers.
