Teething...getting first molars

I've always hated all the fun that teething has brought each time we go through a heavy round of it...buckets of drool, the rashes from all the drool, the 47 night-time wakings from teething pain, the baby ibuprofen, teething tablets and nighttime orajel, the trying to bite everything in sight including mommy & daddy, and the thing that breaks my heart the most...when they stand in front of you and cry and shove their fingers in their mouth as if they are trying soooo hard to tell you how much it hurts :( We usually only go through the worst of all of this about a day or two before a tooth would finally break through, but these molars....aghhhhh! They are driving all of us insane, especially my little Andy & Will  I have no idea when these things will break through, but boy, we have been going through teething misery for weeks now.

How long did your little ones suffer through the first molars before they finally? And what, if anything different than tylenol/ibuprofen, teething tablets, cold washclothes, orajel, etc., did you do to help them with all of the discomfort & pain?

Oh man I feel for you (and them)! Molars have been the worst by far for us. For my guys the really intense pain usually only lasted a week or two, just before the molars popped through. Ibuprofen was our friend, and so was giving them appropriate things to chew on. Nate especially got relief through biting/chewing, so we have him his lovey, wet washcloths and even an incredibly stale bagel to chew on!

Good luck, and I hope these molars pop soon!

UGH. I think we are dealing w/ the two year molars right now and boy are they hurtin units. We were pretty lucky that most of the other teeth didn't seem to bother them but these ones are taking a pretty big toll. I'm hoping and praying these teeth come in quick for both of us!! It's a good thing we only get teeth once in our lives and don't remember it!!

For the FY molars, my son suffered worse then my DD. He seemed to be uncomfortable for a couple of weeks but all of them came in a rapid succession. My DD was not too bad with them. I used to do Tylenol as needed during the day and teething tablets if they seemed really uncomfortable. At night I gave them ibuprofen and teething tablets.

I also have no help, but just wanted to say I feel your pain too. We are going through bottom molars and top eye teeth at the same time. They seem to have moments where nothing is bothering them, and then we have other moments where nothing makes it better. I HATE teething!!!

Absolutely! I'm not a big fan of the tooth fairy right now. We were up four times alone with Andy last night. And he's usually our sound sleeper. Will was up twice. We are all dragging our behinds today :lazy:

Yeah, I think that for teething infants/toddlers, the *parents* should get $ for every tooth.... :D
