but I am too lazy to do a search since my internet is acting up.

Is it possible that Maia is teething even though I dont see anything?? She has always chewed on her fingers but these past 2 days she is chewing on everything with such ferocity, she reminds me of a dog when you try and pull its toy out of its mouth!

She has bitten me probably 5-6x when I am trying to feed her so I tried giving her a bottle and she knawed that too. She is not eating well, both breastmilk and solids (which she LOVES!). She is making faces when she eats her solids almost like I put a lemon in her mouth. Does teething change the way things taste???

I tried that little teeth stuff but it didnt seem to do anything, I have been giving her frozen facecloths to chew on and that seems to be the only thing helping. She just smashes the teething rings.
She has been a little cranky too. BUT SHE IS SLEEPING WELL! :bow2: She only got up twice last night!

So is it possible that she has a tooth coming in and I just cant see it?? (not that I would know what to look for but I would assume I'd see something) And does taste get affected?? :umm: (I feel like a dork that I dont know this!)

[SIZE=10pt]I think it's very possible that Maia is teething. :hug99: To her and mommy!

When my two are teething..their gums get red and swollen. It seems to take about a week for the tooth to actually 'poke' through for my two.

I haven't noticed them eating any different. They usually just want to 'chew' on everything!!

To me teething is the whole process from having them under the gum to the eruption through the gum. Who know what hurts the most to them?? Maybe try some Tylenol and see if that makes her more comfortable and less of a biter? Good luck.

My two have been doing the same thing. Lulu has a tooth popping through after weeks of doing what you're describing, Greta still doesn't have anything showing, but is acting like she's teething. You never really know with teething until you see teeth.

Yes Cohlee, sounds like teething. The only reason I can say "Yes" is because I think you are describing what I call "the growl". It's when they seriously act and sound like a dog for a second.. Right? Mine would growl and then bite down on their fist or something else.. It was WEIRD!

I didn't know they were teething at the time.. I'm an idiot and my mom found their TWO bottom teeth already popped thru! Duh.. Anyway, one of mine didn't want to eat AT ALL for 3 days. He'd take 4 oz bottles and ZERO solids. None.

My other one (they are ID) acted same as usual.. No change at all.

They are now getting their upper two and are acting totally normal.. Completely. Soo much so that (once again) I didn't find the uppers coming in- my Ped did! Duh again..

Anyway, YES.. it's very possible. My one who wouldn't eat was also puking more often.

Good luck.. It's really not that bad, in my opinion.

Oh and not Tylenol for teething.. needs to be Motrin for the anti inflammatory properties. Doc said "Motrin around the clock til the pain subsides."

This is what I can't figure out...if you're not positive it's teething should you do meds around the clock? I worry because I don't want them to suffer needlessly, but what if it takes weeks...I can't give meds that much.

Also Motrin shouldn't be used for babies less than 6 months of age (unless your doctor gives you the ok). I've always used tylenol if it seems to be bothering them a lot along with lots of cool teethers and both have done just fine.

To the OP: it definitely could be teething, but I will relate a little story. Meara did just what you are describing starting around 4 months old. I emailed all my experienced mommy friends (along with posting on here) asking if it was teething. All said "Sure its possible." Well she got her first tooth about a week before her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! Turns out she really just likes to put things in her mouth.
