DD has started grinding her teeth quite a bit. Is this something I should worry about? It's not all the time, but whenever she is tired and cranky, the grinding starts. I have never heard DS do this, so I was getting a bit concerned.

    HI,

My boys did this once they got their uppers... it lasted a few weeks and now they don't do it. I heard that they grind because they are realizing they can. Not sure if this is the same thing your dd is doing. I know I hated hearing it, it was like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

    Good luck

Leighanna does this too, and it drives me crazy  . I read somewhere that its normal, and should go away. Its just a new cool sound, and they can drive mommy up the wall :D.

I've also heard that it can help ease teething pain, any way you slice it though - it's usually short-lived.

One of my guys did this for a little while once he got his upper teeth. I agree with others that it is probably just something that they figure out they can do and think that it is neat. It will go away, even though it may not feel like it ever will! :)

Thanks for posting this! Mine are roughly the same age as yours and Logan has been grinding his teeth too! I thought there was something wrong with him. He had 4 upper teeth come in all at once - based on the responses it seems like this might be normal when the uppers come in.

Trevor does this. He started doing it when he got his upper teeth. It drives me crazy, just like fingernails down a chalkboard. He still does it, but definitely not as much. Emilie, on the other hand, does not do it and I don't remember my oldest DD doing it either.

My daughter Claire does this at night sometimes and DH tells me I do it too. Must be genetic in some cases or a funny coincidence. Grandma (my dad) also grinds his teeth at night. We must all be a joy to listen to when we're stressed out and sleeping.

My older daughter did this too. The sound drove me and my DH nuts. I swear, it's worse than nails on a chalkboard. It was at it's worst when she got her molars. I noticed she started it everytime new teeth came in, wait it out and it'll go away on its own. My pediatrician said it wouldn't hurt their teeth at this point- it's only when you do it for a long time (years) that it can cause problems.

Good luck and buy some ear plugs! ;)

OK, so I am NOT alone!! Doesn't make it any less annoying, but I guess we'll just have to deal. Maybe it does ease teething pain since her two front teeth just completely came in and now the 2 next to them broke through yesterday. Now she has 8 teeth!! Pass that big, juicy steak please.
