Here's something that people don't talk about - just how tedious parenthood is, at least being the SAHM to two toddlers is. Everyday it's feed feed feed, clean clean clean, down for naps, up from naps, whine, bite, giggle, nurse, cry, bath diaper diaper rash diaper cream, repeat. I try to change things up with walks, trips to the park, eating out, playdates, library storytime, etc, but my boys do well with a routine, so I make sure they're home for their 9am and 1pm naps. I even more feel like I can't complain because my boys came after years of infertility. But, ugh, is it tedious ...

I hear ya! I try and get out of the house everyday to break it up but it is the same routine day after day. I found once my girls were only taking one nap/day (14months) that getting out and doing new things got so much easier since we only had to be home in the afternoon. It's still the same routine but we have more flexibility with it.
I just signed my girls up for a day program one day/week where they go and play in the mornings and I can leave and get my errands done. It starts in September when they are 26 months old and I can not wait to have that one day/week where I don't have to do the same thing.

I think someone mentioned it was like the Groundhog Day movie and it's so true!!

I agree it can be tedious! I found that we had more time to switch up the routine and go out once the kids were down to one nap. Still even with one nap, the days can seem repetitive.

DS1 shows occasional signs of going down to one nap, but DS2 still needs his two naps, some days three! (though he never takes three). I can see that things might loosen up a little when we don't have to deal with the morning nap. I hate to be wishing my boys' days away though! *sigh*

We're stuck at home a lot and boy do I feel the same way!! I transitioned my youngest to one nap at around 10 months because I had to have him on the same schedule as the twins. It does get much better with one nap! My ds has to be on a schedule, so all the kids have to be on a schedule. For us I love adding in the arts and crafts stuff.

i hear you! it is most definitely boring at times. i also agree with PPs that it got better when the girls were down to one nap. and now, we can even skip a nap here & there & it's not melt down city which feels like another step in the direction of "freedom". hang in there! try and focus on the positives of their age now (even if they seem few) and i know that will help.

I was home for the first year and a half and many, many (many) times I kept repeating to myself "I'm doing it for them, this is for them". You're doing a great job! Hang in there!
