Thanks so much to all of you for your well-wishes and for keeping us in your thoughts. Jackson did GREAT! (I have to say that I did pretty good, too!)

Despite having no food for 14+ hours, other than a 3am breastfeeding session, Jack was in excellent spirits and flirting with everyone! All of the staff were great-- the nurses and anesthesiologist had awesome personalities and interacted so well with Jack that it alleviated a lot of my nervousness. The nurse who took him away from me was really friendly and told me that the anesthesologist is one of the best around and one of very few who she would trust with any member of her family. Somehow, that made me feel a lot better... and I didn't even cry when I handed him over!!

The eye doctor was a bit out of sorts because his dogs had run away that morning and it took him an hour to find them, so he was an hour late to the surgery. Other than that, everything went great.

The wait in the waiting room was probably the longest 15 minutes (or less!) of my life... but as soon as I got back to recovery, I got to hold him and everything was okay. He nursed for about 15 minutes (a long time for him) then had a couple of crackers and was giggling by the time we left. He took a nice nap in the car and another when we got home, and has since been doing really well.

For those of you facing it, the biggest issue is just the anesthesia. It's a quick and simple procedure and although it's hard to hand your child to anyone and have them taken out of sight, it doesn't last long and is so worth it to ensure their visual health. Jackson's eyes already look brighter and clearer!!

Thanks again to all of you for your support-- we appreciate it so much!! :hug99:

So glad it all went well ! Its a small procedure but it does wonders .. Jayden had a gunky eye his whole first year of life .. he had the 15 minute (or less) procedure and his eyes have been clear ever since. What a relief. :)

Glad to hear that it went well Erin!!!

Meara had her's done on Friday and I agree the hardest parts were 1) handing her to the nurse, 2) waiting in the waiting room, and 3) after in recovery... she didn't come out of the anesthesia well at all (like her momma.. I'm bad with it too). But now 2 days later her eye isn't tearing at all.. the first time ever!
