I love the look of the target play kitchen - I like that it's wood, not plastic, and that it's bright colors, and gender neutral. BUT the reviews on the target web site are VERY mixed - some rave about it, and some totally trash it.

So, I was hoping to get input from a more reliable source :D

If you have this please let me know what you think of it. Or, if anyone has a better suggestion for a different wood (not plastic) kitchen, please share.

    TIA!

I would also be interested in what others say. I've been eyeing it myself. :)

    We have it.

    I love it...and despise it.

Honestly, I think it depends on your children. It's a gorgeous kitchen and it is very well designed and you can add a lot of accessories from target or other stores for an easy price. It was easy to put together, too.

My one complaint, it does NOT hold up if you have rough children! I do think it's sturdy and if your kids will play nicely with it, it would be great. But...if you have very rough kiddos, it can get trashed pretty quickly. My kids tumped it over one of the first days we had it and a knob broke off and the plastic window broke (it fell onto another toy). ETA...it's pretty top heavy, so it's easy to knock over, i should have said that. They also got the rod off the top, which ment the S hooks got lost--but those were cheap and easy to replace--the rod held well when we put it back on with wood glue. And after a few months, the water knob broke off, but was easy to fix (and this is my kids' favorite feature, so that my be an overuse issue and not quality problem).

I think I could have avoided the damage if I had mounted the whole thing to the wall with a couple of L-brackets. It would have been easy and would have only left a few screw holes on the underside of the counter.

As for the kids....they LOVE the kitchen!!!!! Even with it's rather major blemishes now, they still play with it all the time. They got it from Santa for Christmas last year.

If you've got well-behaved kids and not monsters like me, or if you don't mind screwing it to the wall, then I say GO FOR IT. it's uber cute!

My girls have the PBK wood kitchen - wood is the way to go. It seems so much more "real" than the plastic ones. The PBK is pretty durable, has never been pulled over & you can buy all the matching small appliances.
