Where is Miriam, I want her opinion on this.

Can somebody please explain the flame retardant thing to me? Why must the PJs be flame retardant but not any other clothes? Seriously, talk to me like I'm dumb because I don't get it.

Amazingly, none of our PJs are on that list. We buy them all at Target, but they're the snug fit ones.

Years ago the government decided that loose fitting pajamas for kids need to be flame retardant so kids don't burn in their beds (god forbid). The reason PJs are this why is if there is a fire while sleeping (vs. when awake) I guess you are more at risk of catching on fire - in this way the clothes won't catch on fire so you have a better chance of being rescued.

Snug fitting should have the same protection, but "naturally" - i.e no loose fabric - but i guess these pjs weren't snug enough.

We only buy snug fitting, but we let the kids sleep in normal clothes (or our t-shirts) if they want. We're rebels.

I figured that it was because if you were trying to escape from a fire, it's easier for flowing pajamas to either catch on fire or snag on something. And probably since little kids don't have the knowledge under pressure to acknowledge that they are on fire.

On a positive note, this means that I can probably return some and get some in a bigger size. :D

Geez - I put Vivi to bed in a dress tonight because we're down to one nightgown and one pair of pajamas that still fit and I can't find them because we actually put the laundry away the last time we washed it. I wonder if they will do a sale on the PJs that aren't being recalled to appease the panicky public....hmmm - this could work in my favor!
