We just dealt with a major tantrum at lunch today. All because my DS wanted his lovie while he ate and I wouldn't let him have it. He threw the biggest fit and after about 10 minutes of screaming in his highchair. I cleaned him up and put him in his crib (with his lovie) until he calmed down. He screamed for probably another 5-10 minutes and then stopped so I opened the door to go get him and he started up again....for another 20-30 minutes.

How do you deal with the tantrums? Do you ignore it, place them in cribs/playpen or a corner/chair? Just thought I would see how some of you are handling these temper fits. They are so exhausting!!

 they are exhausting...physically and emotionally. Sounds like you handled it well. I say remain consistant in what you are doing and they will lesson. I can't say they will stop...he's just heading toward two. You have a ways to go (sorry). But, putting them in a safe place and ignoring is a great solution!

Thanks for the advice. I have realized (after reading several posts here) that this is just the beginning, since they haven't hit the "terrible 2's". Geez...I can't even imagine.....

I agree with Rachel. I ignore them too if they are safe! If DS has food and you break it up for him he throws a fit and smashes the food. I just start washing dishes and 2 seconds later he stops and eats it.

Ugh, I have the QUEEN of temper tantrums over here! No crying just scream, hitting, scratching, pulling hair! She did it at a birthday party in front of 100+ people. I was so embarrassed! I just put her in the stroller and let her work it out for a minute. The day did not get much better but I dont know what else to do.

You are not alone and I have no advice, sorry. Let me know if you figure out something and I will do the same. ;)
