My once perfectly happy little angels have turned into angry little boogers. We rarely had to deal with screamers or criers. Now, they scream and throw their heads back until they hit the floor if they don't get their way. One will steal toys from the other leaving the "victim" in a fit. This is so new. I don't know what to do. Is there a way I can change this. I thought maybe some of you have been there and can offer some suggestions, or you can tell me that there is nothing I can do.

    Thanks,

    Rachel

I try not to react to tantrums unless they are hurting themselves. I find that the more attention I give them during a tantrum the longer it lasts. I hope it's just a phase, but man they have been on a roll this week. [IMG]

I didnt get to many responses to my post about this a few days ago so I'm hoping you will get some good ones.....

I am thinking ours are related to teething?

We too tend to ignore them when they are throwing a tantrum. I found that if no attention is given, then the action will stop.

I am starting to find, myself, that if you don't pay a tantrum any attention, that it will lessen. It seems like the more attention you give them when they are throwing a fit, the more they act crazy. And I do mean any sort of attention. Just saying, "Hush, now," will cause a whole new song and dance. But to ignore it completely, after about 5 minutes or so, they'll stop and find something else to do.

Mine act like this when they are teething....Their names become squawl and bawl...yikes! Ignoring them only make mine act worse. Tylenol and a good nap help also if you go somewhere that helps to distract them by being in public.

Right now Joshua is getting 3 teeth at the same time and Daniel is getting only one but o m g are they cranky. My inlaws were here for xmas and nobody could hold them but mama and dada.

I could have written this EXACTLY, and i don't think it's just teething. I think for us it's Ellie not getting her way period! (she's the one who both throws her head back until she hits the floor, and steals the toys too!). wish i could help, but i do ignore it when i can (and freak out when she's almost smashed her head on something behind her!).
