Tantrums at 14 months

Jack is usually the more placid of my two be recently he has started having tantrums. Not just little screaming matches but full blown tantrums. He makes litle fists, goes bright red, throws himself on the floor , goes rigid and screams!! There is no feet and arm kicking yet because i think he hasnt figured out how to do it! He has also started doing it when i go to put him down for a nap, change his nappy or if i take him off the swings when he is playing on them. Do you think this is normal ? Do you think he has just found a new way of expressing himself so he is now going to use it all the time? Has anyone elses kids had tantrums at this age? Any info would be great ladies!! Thanks x

 

I am fairly certain this is normal/ DS has started this recently. He was so quiet and still is until a toy is snatched or he can't do something he wants. Then he throws himself to his bottom and screams. At this age they are learning to express themselves.

I respond by not responding. I do not give him what he wants UNLESS he is crying b/c DD snatched a toy, and then it is only fair.

 

yep - DS started that a few weeks ago and now DD is starting too....he gets this grunt/scream noise that he keeps up until he coughs LOL

 

Sounds about right!! Their will is getting stronger and they don't have the communication in other ways yet!! I try to let them just have the fit for a while and then get on with business. (sometimes that's not advisable - like yesterday at the airport but.....)
