Liberty has blow me away this weekend. She has been able to say the normal mama and dada and recognize who we are. Well she deceided to say grandma for the first time yesterday, yes you heard me right grandma. She said it as plan as day and she was looking at my mom as well. She also thought that wasn't good enough she started to put two woods together. Daddy was going to feed her and aparently he didn't get the bottle to her fast enough so she said dada baba. Can you ladies beleive this? I am totally in awe, I have never heard to a almost eight month old saying this stuff.

Sounds like you have an early talker, that's so neat! I hope mine talk early, I love it when babies say words!

My mom said that I talked very early (although I was a late walker) She said that I was talking in sentences at 18 months. Add to that the fact that i was 2 months premature and was bald (I didn't have hair till I was 2), so I was tiny and looked alot younger so people used to get completely freaked out [IMG]
She said we'd be on the bus and I'd be yacking away about something to her and people would just stare. They were also house shopping about the same time if we went into an open house and the people were cooking I would pipe up with "I smell something!" My mom said it was SO embarasing because it was like I was saying their house was smelly! And my comments would never go unnoticed because they were so unexpected.

That's great! My boys are lazy. They will not even say mama or dada. I have been worried because Trent was talking at 6 months. I'm going to discuss this with the pedi on the 23 when they have their 9 month check-up.

    So cool!

Simone...I wouldn't worry. Mine are 10 months and still don't say mama or dada.

    That's awesome!

My cousin's son was 7 months old when his father left for Iraq. So right when he left he would always call his son and my cousin would always put him up to the phone and tell him to say "hi da". He called the phone a "hida" at 7 1/2 months old. It was the cutest thing and exactly what my cousin's husband needed as he left his son for a year. Then he started calling anything electronic a "hida".

That's great! To the PP who was worried that they aren't talking yet at nine months. Umm, don't worry. Most 9 month olds are not talking. Maybe babbling, but not talking. Mine are 17 months and one has three words and the other maybe five. They sign a lot though.

I wouldn't worry either. Mine are just about one and all they say is mama, dada, and no. They refuse to clap or wave or say bye bye or any of the other cute little things. They just look at me like I'm crazy when I try to get them to!
