Taking them to a Pool

We will be staying at a place that has a pool this weekend. The boys are 20 months and I am not sure what to have for them in terms of a flotation device. We will be with them the whole time, holding them in the water, but are they too big to sit in the ones that have a canopy on top? We have one from last summer when they were about 8 months old and took them in a pool. I saw one today that is a lifejacket and a step up from just sitting them in something. They are very active and I am not sure how long they would sit. I need some help. Thanks!

 

at that age, we didn't use any flotation devices at the pool - DH & i just each held onto one monkey the whole time.

 

Ditto what Rachel said. While they may fit in one of those floaty things, they won't want to stay in them. Plus if you're on a trip, that's just one more thing you have to pack, I wouldn't worry about it.

 

I recommend the little tubes. I take mine to the pool by myself several times a week and the tubes are perfect for us.

 

DH and I did the same at that age. Now they have the toddler floatation life jackets.

 

Puddle jumper - $15 at Target. They are the best by far of any floatation device and are coast guard approved. Mine used them without a problem from 20 pounds up.

 

Thanks!! I was just in Target the other day and bought the puddle jumper for my 4 yo, but it didn't dawn on me to get one for the boys too!

 

The pool right by our house has a baby pool that is a foot deep all the way across so I take the girls there even by myself. I ordered the puddle jumpers and I hope they get here soon so I don't have to be so stressed while we are there! The pool is an amazing way to spend the summer!!!
