My twins are 10mths. I started giving them cups awhile back. One day (about 2 wks ago) I decided to not give them bottles anymore. Ayden cried for one 1 time, so I gave it to him, but other than that, they have just been using the cups. My husband and I had a disagreement about it the other day and he said that they were too young, but I thought that they were not. If they were crying for bottles, that would be one thing, but they aren't. I think that if they are not crying for them why wait untill it is a big drama to take them away, why not just take them now? I really don't know what to do. My gut tells me to stick with what I think, but when I'm not here he will sometimes give them a bottle anyways. I don't know what to do! HELP!

My twins obviously aren't there yet, but I'm with you; if your babies are doing fine with them, why not make the switch now?

If they are drinking their formula from cups then I would stick with the cups! That's what they're going to have to switch to eventually so you'll just be ahead of the game! I know that one of our moderators, Pamela, (Sweetgirl) also was able to switch her babies to cups before 1 year old and they drank their formula just fine. The important thing is that they are drinking their formula, if you can get them to do it from sippies than you are ahead of the game!

I took my girls bottles away at 11 months simply because they were fine drinking out of their sippies. I didn't want to wait until they were attached to their bottles.

The Dental Service here is Aust. recommends no bottles after 12 months due to them causing cavities. I think this also includes sippy cups. Mine were drinking out of open cups by about 14 months, and only had water out of ther sippy cups (easier to clean too!) for the majority of time.

I think if they are drinking from the cups just fine, then you made the right call in switching them when you did!

If they are getting their recommended intake in a sippy cup at 10 months then so be it. Mine switched at 13 months one day and never looked back.
