Take her in to be on the safe side?

We are leaving tomorrow morning for a 3 week trip to CT to see my parents. A bug just finished the rounds here today. Emma was sick up until last Sunday with a HIGH fever, sore throat and stuffy nose. Last night she kept waking up SCREAMING! She didn't want my DH (which usually only happens when she is sick).

I am thinking that she may have an ear infection. But I am NEVER right with her. She doesn't usually have the typical symptoms but when I was trying to ask her if anything hurt this morning she didn't say anything until I got to ear and then she repeated it.

So - since we are leaving tomorrow morning to fly to CT do I try to get her in just to make sure she doesn't have an ear infection or do I chalk it up to a bad night?

I would take her in. Then if it's nothing, at least you have peace of mind. Good luck!

PS - You're not going to be too far from me! :wavey:

Absolutely. Wouldn't you hate to be on vacation and she end up sick and have to take her to a doc you don't know. If you took her in and nothing was wrong, at least you have the peace of mind knowing she's okay.

Definitely! One time I took M in to the pedi at 9am and we were flying out at 3pm. It put my mind at ease...

I agree with pp, if for nothing else, your peace of mind. You've got enough going on with packing and getting out of the house--that would be one less thing to worry/think about :) Have a wonderful trip!

I would take her in, who wants to travel with an ear infection.

yup- I'd take her in! In fact, I just took mine in for similar symptoms! Especially if you're flying, a possible EI could be VERY painful with all the pressure changes! Hope she checks out just fine!

Well - I am glad that we went!!! She is in the beginning stages in both ears. They also gave me a bit of a stronger antibiotic, not because her ears are bad, but because it doesn't need to be refrigerated. It was nice because when I asked Emma what was hurting her, her tummy, her ear she said ear. We may be entering a WONDERFUL phase where she can actually tell me what's wrong instead of us having to guess!

So - Motrin for the plane and we'll hope that the antibiotics kick in fast!

I also had them check my other DD's ears just to be safe and hers were great.

Oh how wonderful to be able to communicate!!!! And I'm so glad you went in- you must feel much better "knowing" and being able to treat them! I hope you have a great trip and their discomfort is minimal!!! :)
