I know it's been asked a million times. The other night i started having tailbone pain, and now anytime i try and sit straight up and down it's very painful. I haven't done anything to have caused this. The o/b had me come in yesterday just to make sure, cervix was great no issues, and no protien in my urine.

I'm just wondering if anyone else got tainbone pain and then it subsided after a few days, or is this it for the remainder of my pregnancy.....?

i dont really have any advice but i'm right here with you! just about the only places i can sit comfortably are the couch and the car. i stood up in the waiting room at my last appointment even though there were plenty of chairs because i didnt want to be sore. anyways :hug99: 's! i hope our tail bones feel better soon!

I had it in my first pregnancy, for the duration unfortunately. Look online for the "Tush Cush" -- it really helps! I carried that thing everywhere, and *had* to have it in the car....

My tailbone has been hurting off and on for a few months now. Sometimes it's really bad and can last a few days, then it will go away for a few days, then come back... Just try and take it easy and lay down as much as you can. I noticed when I sit in one position for a long time it seems to make it worse. Hope you feel better soon!

I have the tail bone pain if I sit up too long. When that happens to me I lay down all the next day and it will go away until I sit up for a while again.

I started having the tail bone pain about 3 weeks ago. It comes and goes - but I do agree.......the pain tends to be more intense after I've been sitting in the same position for a long time. I definitely recommend a good cushion for lower back support. I'm sorry you're feeling the pain so early on.
Hope you feel better soon. Hang in there! :)

I have had tailbone pain since 12 weeks but it got really bad at 16 weeks. I have a history of tailbone problems stemming from a childhood injury. Delivering my son caused a severe flare up and now my twin pregnancy has caused it to come back. In my case the Docs think that the loosening of the ligaments has caused my pelvis to shift causing my tailbone to move out of alignment. whatever the cause it HURTS bad. I can drive the car if I sit on a u cushion and at home I have borrowed a recliner to help get comfortable. These things help a little but my doc says the only way to fix the problem is to have the babies and then physio. I am only 22 weeks now and hate going out cause I can never get comfortable unless semireclined - i am so anti-social I am at risk of becoming a hermit. LOL. Wish I could give you a magic remedy cause I know how much it sux.

I, too, am plagued by the infamous tailbone pain. My doctor said it should get BETTER into the pregnancy, but seeing some of the replies on here doesn't give me much hope of that :). I noticed that prolonged sitting or laying on my back really aggravates it, as well as sleeping without a pillow in between my knees (or even one that's too big). Apparantly it's something to do with the ligaments & pelvis shifting...and at times I can actually FEEL my pelvis out of joint. NO FUN! I notice that sitting on a heating pad helps mine...maybe try that?

Thanks for all the great replys. I'm sorry to those that are also suffering. I find myself actually feeling better if I am up and moving that if I've been laying down for any period of time. Ahhh the joys of pregnancy.
