So, one of the grandmas really wants to get one of the reading toys for the kids. They both love books and I think they will love this.
But I'm having trouble deciding between the Tag Jr. and the Vtech Bugsby.

Does anyone have one or the other? Do you like it or not?

    TIA!

My girls got tag jr's for Christmas last year from their aunties. They like them, but don't play with them a lot. Also the older they get, the more frustrated they are with the repetitiveness of the books/questions/games. Our library actually has tag books, but not tag jr. If I had known that last year, I would have encouraged my SILs to get the tag readers instead.

    Thank Leighann!

I'm combing through Amazon reviews right now, and am seeing that's the biggest complaint with the Tag Jr- that it's not very challenging for the age range it's listed for. I wish Leap Frog had a more in-between toy, because I don't think mine are really ready for the regular Tag, which is marked for 4-8yrs. But I had not thought to call the library to see if they have any of the books! Thanks for that idea!

Mine like their Tag Jrs quite a bit. I've never heard of the other one.

I would get a regular tag and get the classic storybooks instead of the activity books (vs the ones with academic content in the back===which pushes the age level up).

My girl got a TAG reader at 3yr 2 months and LOVED them....they still do at age 5.

At first they learned to just push the 'read' the page symbol. Later they learned to touch certain words and play the games, now they know how to do everything the books have to offer.

It would be a good activity to do w/a parent as well.

It leaves a lot of room to grow with and use at different levels. Some books are 'younger' and some are older- they are easy to find as well.

They may outgrow the TAG Jr very quickly.

I have never heard of the other reading system you mentioned.

My cousins boy got a tag at 2 1/2 and can work it just not play all the games

at this age I'd get them a regular Tag reader - the reader will read to them...

We got the Tag Jr. last year for Christmas and they still play with it and seem to like it.
