Jeez, you would think I was a first time parent....I just feel so clueless with these two.

I think they are really starting to get out of the baby food. They will be 10 months old Monday (Holy Crap!), and I want to start introducing more table foods.

I am home now for the summer too...my mom and MIL were watching them while I worked. My mom had started adding small pasta too their veggies for lunch. They seem to do well with it, but I don't want to give them the same thing everyday.

The puffies aren't going so well. They do like mashed potatos.

I just feel clueless!!! I just did it with Emily and now I am just so lost. I think I should start them on Stage 3 baby foods.

    Any suggestions???

    TIA

    I love your oldest's name! ;)

We started with some cheese, and cut fruits and veggies. They really liked those shredded carrots you can buy in a bag, and shredded cheese. Also big were those Dole fruit bowls and dried fruit. Peas - I would buy frozen bags so I could make whatever amount they wanted since I hate peas myself, and other frozen veggies (mainly so I could control the portions and wouldn't waste as much).

Good luck - this is an exciting time! BTW - mine never liked stage 3 foods that had chunks in them, only the fruit and veggie ones. I hope you have better luck with them than we did.

Thanks! I went through about 5 names before settling on Emily Kate about a month before she was born. We had had Joshua Christopher picked early on...we didn't know what we were having. Should of known a girl between having issues with a girl name and washing all the white onsies with something red....they came out pink!

Thanks for the food advice too. I never thought about the shredded cheese and carrots.

    April,

I just read your post on the first page and went looking for this one. I think sometimes the board moves fast and some posts just get missed. My twins are only 5 months, but I can tell you what we did with our older DS as far as table foods go...

    He loved:

    yogurt
    pasta with marinara
    pasta with butter
    pasta with parmesan cheese
cheese (in all forms - shredded, cut in tiny pieces, etc.)
    frozen peas
    Dole fruit cups
tiny pieces of cooked ham or cooked turkey
    waffles/pancakes
    diced grapes
    bananas cut up tiny
    cooked broccoli
soft tortilla shells broken into tiny pieces
    toasted wheat bread
    Nutrigrain bars
Tilapia (he loved fish when he was little, unfortunately now he won't eat anything!)
    rice
    cooked apples
scrambled eggs ( I can't remember when it is okay to start eggs, though)

Hmm, I know that there are more but I'm hitting a wall. If I think of others that were a success, I'll add more.

    Good luck!

Thanks...that is a great list! I just don't remember with Emily at all. I think that time was such a blur due to BIL's passing away from a motorcycle accident.

Sorry to hear about your BIL.

We just started giving spaghetti, bananas, the bitter biscuits are a big success here, cut up sweet potatoes and squash. Basically anything mushy sounds good so they can get use to mashing and picking it up and then move gradually from there. That is the advice I got anyway. We can't do any dairy because of DD reflux but I sure wish we could to have more of a variety.

I mainly give mine cooked ham/turkey or hamburger meat. I over cook frozen veggies.. Mine LOVE beans. Black, pinto. It doesnt matter. I get the canned beans packed in water.
Noodles, Bits of very soft potato. Bananas. Cereal, Kix and cherios.
Also if i am feeling lazy.. I break out a can of chicken noodle soup, cook it and then rinse it in cold water. They LOVE it!! I notmally go with the progressive.

My friend does the soup thing too and LOVES it! I have to say-it's actually a good idea! You have your meat, veggies, and sometimes a starch. Great idea if you're in a pinch!

Sorry I don't have any ideas as mine are 7.5 months and we are just starting on the finger foods. I am at a loss-and in a few months-I'll be looking for this thread! :) But we've done the Dole fruit(peaches so far), biter biscuits, pastina(didn't go over well-think MIL put too much on the spoon), watermelon, and bananas. It's so fun to watch them eat solids-they LOVE them! And-it keeps them quiet! :p

Just to add that mine loved the Boca Burgers Soy "Chicken" Patties cut up.

And there are lots of nice recipes at wholesomebabyfood.com

    Good luck!

My kids have been eating finger food for quite a while now (they are almost 11 months now). Here are some things that work well for us:

Pancakes, waffles, toast with fruit spread, toast with cream cheese, scrambled egg yolks with cheese, tortillas filled with scrambled egg yolks with cheese (like quesadillas), black beans, green beans, peas, cooked carrots, cooked zucchini, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, Morningstar Farms veggie burgers, turkey meatloaf, shredded or cut up chicken, pasta (I suggest looking for types of pasta easy to pick up...like shells or rolled pasta), rice, yogurt (we waited til 9 months for yogurt and cheese) with fruit, cheese cubes, and all sorts of fresh ripe fruits...apricots, peaches, plums, melons (watch with melon, we see more diaper rash with this although the kiddos love it), pears, shredded apples, cooked apples, apples in the mesh feeder, blueberries (these are super messy, I don't do often), cheerios (instead of puffs)...well, I hope this gives you some ideas.

My kids will allow me to spoon feed them very briefly, so that tends to be the yogurt/fruit mix in the mornings and after that, they are all about doing it themselves. Everything I listed here I cut up into pieces small enough for them to mash with their gums and swallow :) Zachary has 8 teeth, so he chews a little, but Izzy just got her first two and not having teeth hasn't stopped her!

    Hope this helps!

Good question! I've tried the following and have gotten a good response:)
waffles (I buy the frozen so it's quick)
canned carrots (or you could cook raw ones until they are soft)
    pieces of grilled cheese
    diced mandarin orange
    banana
    grahm cracker
    kix cereal
pieces of turkey or shredded chicken
    macaroni and cheese
    banana bread
    petite peas

I'm always looking for new foods to try so thanks for the ideas on here!

We skipped stage 3 foods. Went straight from stage 2 to table foods. I just give them what i'm eating. Obviously in really small pieces. They love spaghetti ! And we had spinach the other, they loved that too.I've been lucky with them eating everything.
