Just wondering if anyone started doing mostly or all table foods before 1yr?
Also wondering if anyone's LO's refused certain table foods? So far my twins favorite thing is sandwiches...they will each eat half a sandwich and love it. But I try to give them some fruit or veggies and they dont care for it, ds will let me put some in his mouth but dd just refuses...is that normal?!

Sure, it's normal that they won't like certain things. Could be taste or it could be the texture of some things. But I always kept trying the things they didn't like because their dislikes can quickly change at that age & something they hated yesterday, they can love today. I think most doctors recommend keeping them on at least some formula until age 1, that's where they are getting the bulk of their nutrition when they are younger.

Up until close to a year, formula should be their main nutrition but food is definetly going to be gaining strength! :D I only used the little gerber meals after 1 yr with my ds because he was going to my MIL's while I was at work and they were quick/easy for her to heat. My dd was pretty much on all table foods by 1 yr.

And yep it's normal for them to like/dislike certain things, but it can also take up to 10 tries before a baby will admit to liking something, so keep trying! :) They also may want to feed themselves, have you tried cutting up soft fruits/veggies into finger food pieces? They get an independent streak around that age if I remember right, and want to "do it myself!" :p

that sounds exactly like my girls! they started refusing purees around 10 months but wouldn't eat much beyond cheerios & cheese cubes for finger foods. i just kept nursing, offering a mix of foods at every meal & figured they'd let me know if they needed more. by 11 months they were doing great with table foods & we had dropped purees completely.

as PPs mentioned though, formula or breast milk should be their main source of nutrition until 1 year. GL!

Mine refused alot of table foods. I am pretty sure it was the texture that they didnt care for. Just keep offering them a variety of foods and lots of formula and/or breast milk. Sounds like they are doing great. I cant believe they are 9 months old already. :woah:

I guess I left this out....I meant switching from purees to table food, we are of course still giving them their fill of formula!

I'm glad to hear its normal for them to refuse certain thins (as table foods)...I will just keep trying with the cut up fruits and veggies!

i meant to say this in my other post, but forgot - one trick we used was to spread veggie & fruit purees onto a piece of bread & then cut it up so they could feed it to themselves. they seemed to like that. it helped a lot during the transition period. i also snuck pureed veggies into their pasta sauces & pureed fruits into their pancakes.

My girls refused all table foods at first, lol. I think it's pretty normal for them to resist things based on textures for awhile.

Mine are on table food and formula too. If they don't eat the table food, I try not to worry because they do drink their cups.

I started puree the table foods so we could switch from the bought stuff to stuff we cook at home. Mine seem to like it a lot better and they like some of the table foods. Yesterday we had ribs and I let them have a bone that was cleaned off fairly well and they went to town on them. I think mine are curious about the finger foods still. So we will be moving right along and head for the road bumps. But, I think it is important to transition them to the table food. My brothers son doesn't eat well and not alot of good stuff and I think it is because she did not transition to the table food just jumped over in it . So good luck
