I would like to get the kids used to using a little table and chairs and/or picnic table. I'm wondering which everyone might reccomend? I'm tempted to get the table and chairs becauseTHIS is about the cutest thing I've ever seen.
If you have a table and chairs or picnic table what kind/brand is it?

I agree! I keep saying that I am going to get a set over the summer. Can't wait to see more suggestions!

We have this one - I love the naturally playful series (we have sandbox and getting the playhouse/slide this summer. And its big so several kids can sit at it and the umbrella keeps them shaded to eat lunch at, they do have a smaller version as well

Both my sets of twins had this very simple table and chair set from ikea. It was good because it didn't take up loads of space, but there was enough surface room for them both to sit with a piece of A4 paper to do crafts or a plate if they were eating. Because it is not expensive we didn't have to stress when they got pens/paint on the table (although most things came off). I like having the chairs separate from the table because it is easier to move around and also lets the kids use the table/chairs for different things-mine used to make trains or cars with the chairs or drape a blanket between the chairs and table to make a den. They are also good and solid, Alyssa and Bryony still have and use theirs (it is in their bedroom now so they can do drawing upstairs).

Here is the page with all the ikea chidren's table and chairs.

    I have both! :FIFblush:

I have this set that we use literally every day! So lightweight, easy to move around, big enough for 2 kids comfortably, 4 if you squish them! My ds used to eat his snack at it, and my dd now eats her snack at it.

Then we have this set (without the umbrella) that we use when we have parties, it fits 4-6 kids easily, but I love that it folds up flat so it's easy to store! I also use it when we are doing craft projects, especially painting, because it wipes clean so easily! We also take this camping for the kids to sit on outside.

Both are super easy to wipe down and have been through a LOT in terms of rough and tumble play! :p

Can I ask, at what age or developmental stage did you all start using tables (or for that matter chairs) with your kids? My boys aren't yet in their second year (they turn 1 in a few weeks). They're crawling and one pulls up everywhere and have been good sitters since 6 or 7 months. But it hasn't really occurred to me to put them in little chairs or tables. It seems like they'd just fall out? But maybe I'm not giving them enough credit! Or, is this something for when they're walking?

outside we have an old plastic picnic table that has the benches attached... the pro is that the set stays together and the kids can't move it around...

inside we have a large coffee table that we use as their table, and then I just got 2 wood chairs from IKEA... they move the chairs all over the place, its a bit of a pain, but ok. one thing I didn't think about was that our chairs are painted, and they get chipped pretty easy when they get banged around... kinda wish I'd gone with just natural wood for those.

mamamolly-my big girls got their table and chairs at around 18 months, Naomi and Luke were about 20 months. A & B used it as a craft table, N & L used it for eating too. They all did fine sitting on the chairs. I don't think they would have to be walking to use one (as long as you were right there to help them get off the chairs until they learnt to navigate them) but I would say maybe think about what you would want to use a table and chair set for. It might be that at the one year mark it's more trouble than it's worth.
