As long as the swelling eventually goes down (for the most part) after putting your feet up and driking some water you are fine. Swelling becomes a concern when it doesn't go down and especially when it is in your face (then you may have pre-eclampsia).

I agree that you should drink a ton of water and put your feet up. If you are concerned about it though, definitely be sure to call your Dr.

Some is normal for sure. You just don't want to swell a lot and quickly.

I had Froto (the hobbit) feet starting at 20 some weeks that lasted several weeks post partum. My shoes left dents in my feet and I caught strangers staring at my ankles. Seriously, tree trunks! It will go away, but if anything else swells up call your Dr. to check your blood pressure.

  6. i had THE WORST swollen calves/ankles....cankles. whatever you wanna call them. if i pushed in on my shin, my leg would stay dented in for a couple mins!! within weeks i was diagnosed with pre-e. just like everyone else said, put your feet up & drink some water, but keep on eye on things!

When I was 31w pregnant, my swelling was present, but it went down at night. Then I hit 34w and it never went away. I lost complete function of my right side and my dr said it would go away eventually. I am still swollen, but I can see my legs and ankels return to normal. Plus, the right side of my body is slowly returning to normal.

Just watch for swelling of the hands and face accompanied by high blood pressure. Then you may have pre-eclampsia. Don't worry about it, yoru dr will keep an eye on you.

I had swollen calves and ankles during the third trimester. It is normal  Like other posters have said, make sure that your swelling does go down (mine always did at night) because if it doesn't, you should alert your doctor.

I started swelling on Sunday, and saw my Dr. on Tuesday. I told him about the swelling in my claves and feet and all he did was check my fingers, face, and took my BP again. He said that I was lucky it had just started that most twin pregnancies start a lot earlier.

I just noticed swelling yesterday, too...it was shocking! I feel this is way too early, but here we go! I'm trying to drink lots of water and putting my feet up when I can...

Mine started Sun, too. (I was 32 wks Sat). I thought I just overdid it Sat and Sun (I was on my feet much more than usual) but sadly it hasn't gotten any better. :nea: Saw my doctor yesterday and he said no protein, no high b/p, no headaches or vision problems, no worries. He, too, said if all I have is that "minor" swelling at this stage, he's thrilled. So glad HE'S thrilled w/ my puffiness. I, for one, LIKE having ankles. lol.
