I'm sure this topic has been posted several times, but how early did some of you start to get swollen ankles? With DD, I had slightly swollen ankles a couple times at the very end. I'm 18 weeks and have had swollen ankles yesterday and today. I know yesterday it was probably from not drinking as much as I should, as I was out and about all day. I know how to help it, etc., but I just want to know if it's normal this early. Does anyone know if there's a connection between protein intake and swollen ankles? I didn't do so well with my protein yesterday either.

With my last twin pregnancy I know I had swollen ankles by this time, and I guess I worry that it could be somehow related to TTTS.

    Thanks!

I think I had them at around 16 weeks. It was from walking around too much and also sitting at my desk with my legs down or crossed.

The solution was to sleep with my legs raised at night (just tuck a pillow under the mattress) and in the day keep them up as much as possible.

Also of course to increase water intake and protein.

Since I have been on bedrest - I haven't had the problem. [IMG]

My Dr. did say as long as they go down by the morning its nothing too serious to worry about but if you are waking up and they are still puffy then you need to get checked out.

Mine started at week 32. But I've been on bed rest since week 26, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Mine started swelling last week (surely had something to do with all the Christmas Shopping) I try to have a bottle of water with me at all times and put my feet up as soon as I get home from being out. My BP is very good and no signs of anything abnormal, and the DR says as long as it goes down by morning its ok...Boy this is gonna be one heck of a pregnancy.

I had swollen ankles from the begining of my twin pregnancy. It really only stopped when I stopped working at 26 weeks.

I think mine started to swell around 30-31 weeks. Can't say that I notice it is worse depnding on water intake, protein etc. Salt does seem to be the one thing I do notice more swelling with - in my singleton pregnancy, it happened at the very end (38 weeks). I'v enever heard of it being related to TTTS. I do think it can be a warning sign to preeclampsia, if coupled with high BP and protein in the urine.

Mine actually HURT now, too. Like I have worn shoes 2 sizes too small for 12 hours straight. Weird!

I never had consistent swollen ankles but if I walked around a lot or sat without elevating my legs---I noticed that it would get worse. For some reason, my ankles are really swollen today. I think it is because it is at the end of the pregnancy. I would just watch the salt intake (from what I have heard) and try to keep your feet elevated when you can.

Mine aren't consistently swollen, but I started having swelling around 17 or 18 weeks as well. It must be normal for twins... or is there a normal for anything for twins?! [IMG] lol

I had swollen ankles any time I over did it, at that stage. I would drink a lot of water and get more rest and they would go down. I don't know if this is related to TTTS.

Towards the end of my pregnancy, I had Barney Ruble feet, but I also had Pre-E.
