my feet blew up today at work (lovley) and they said. ghee...i guess you'll deliver early after all.
wth is up with that comment, lol! is that true? that if i'm swelling up at 31 weeks, 4 days i'll likely deliver early?

I think it just means you are doing to much! My ankles/cankles were gross with my singleton. I worked all day, and I just got really swollen. I called my feet "Simpson feet" because they looked like balloons with sausage toes. hahahaha. I went full 40 weeks with my singleton.

My docs just told me "Try and put your feet up more, elevating them helps." I had fine blood pressure, so no scare for pre eclampsia.

Let your doc know..but I dont think it means you will deliver early?

my feet started to swell up around that time and the doc said "rest and take it easy". i was doing far too much for being preggo with twins. i did a lot of errands, chores, and was in the midst of moving. drink water, make sure you are checking your bp (for pre-e) and try, try, try to stay off your feet!

It meant nothing other than a trip to Wal-Mart for cheap sandals to limp me through the last few weeks because NOTHING fit on my sausage feet. I was induced and had them at 39 weeks after months of swelling.

I think swollen legs and feet are to be expected. It's when the swelling gets to the hands and face that you need to be concerned about developing pre-eclampsia. That's why I delivered 4 weeks early. I suspected it with the swelling in the face, but the protein in the urine and high blood pressure confirmed it.

since i cant test my bloodpressure at home, i should watch out for a puffy face? if my face puffs up then i could have pre-eclampsia?
can they 'stop' pre-eclampisa? i had a family member who had it and her eyes were blurry.

I would just watch your blood pressure at each doctor visit. I never really paid much attention to my blood pressure before because mine was always low. But I started paying attention when my friend delivered early with Pre-E. I started tracking every visit and asking what it was if they didn't tell me, just for peace of mind. I never tested at home and tried not to worry about it too much.

I don't think they can stop Pre-eclampsia, but if it's not too severe they may be able to put you on bedrest and keep an eye on it until you get to the point you must deliver. Since I was 36 weeks, they delivered right away. But I don't know how severe it was, I think since I was that far along, they weren't concerned with trying to get the babies more time in there.

Blurry vision and headaches are a sign of pre-eclampsia. I never really had that though, but I think I was in the early stages when they caught it. When I was monitored in the hospital before and after the babies were delievered, they were asking me hourly if I had blurry vision. I think it was a sign that things were more severe, or the dose of the magnesium sulfate I was hooked up to needed to be altered.

Anyway, try not to worry about the swelling. I know lots of people who had swelling worse than me (in the legs and feet) and never developed pre-eclampsia and went on to deliver full term. Just keep your feet up as much as possible and drink plenty of water. Good luck!

ETA: Along with asking your blood pressure at each visit, it also might be good to ask if there was any protein in your urine (another sign). Sometimes they don't even mention it if it was just a trace, but I still think it would be something good to know for peace of mind.

before i bought a blood pressure maching (sell them at target for around $20) i would make a quick trip to the drugstore. my doctors gave me a sheet so that i could monitor my bp everyday.

Try compression stockings. They are a bit expensive but make a HUGE difference in how my feet and ankles feel (and swell). I just used knee highs - not full length stockings.
