    Hi Everyone,

I won't officially be here (1-5) for a few weeks, but needed some advice.
How did yoiu switch from formula to milk? Did you mix, introduce it one bottle at a time or just go cold turkey? Did you stop bottles and move to sippy cupsa at the same time?

I just attempted to replace one of the day bottles with milk in a sippy...didn't work well. Moved the milk into bottles and dd had 3 ounces, ds refused.

Any input (as always) is appreciated.

We switched cold turkey for the most part.... We still had a few cases left of formula so they get it first thing in the am and last thing before bed... We started with formula in the Nuby Sport Straw (soft) so its similar to a bottle and never went back to bottles... After a few days in these we switched right over to milk and after a few days of milk in these cups we switched over to the reg. nuby cups with milk. We started this all at 11months and with in 2 weeks they had no problem drinking cold milk out of the sippy cups..... As soon as our last 5 cans of formula are done they will be getting what the ped. recommended 16oz of milk per day.... They love milk so I know they are getting way more then 16oz a day so I have to cut back on that and offer more water.

    Good Luck!

We haven't made the switch completely yet, but we have started in the last two weeks or so. I still give formula in bottles, but I give whole milk in sippies with meals. This is what their pediatrician recommended.

Both of them will drink milk out of the sippy - I just warm it to lukewarm so it isn't ice cold. They're doing fine with it, but it did take a few days before they would take it from the sippy.

Once they start drinking more than an ounce or two of the milk I'll start dropping the bottles they are getting in between meals right now. They're getting 4 bottles right now - one with breakfast, one after their morning nap, one after their afternoon nap, and one with dinner. Hopefully we'll be able to drop the bottles with meals first, and then we'll work on replacing the middle of the day bottles with juice/water in sippies and maybe a snack.

    Hope that helps [IMG]

We slowly switched. We did a couple days of 2oz milk, 6 oz form, then a couple days 4 oz and 4 oz, then a couple days 6oz milk, 2 oz form, then all milk. It took about two weeks.

We didn't switch to sippies until they were on milk for a month.

    Good luck!

we did the slow switch over a month's time (e.g., first week mixing 1/4 milk with 3/4 formula). they were already doing water in sippies, so after a while of being on all milk i started putting milk in sippies as well - just the middle of the days ones at first, then when they did well with those i switched the am bottle and last the pm bottle to sippies. good luck!

We first began by making half formula/ half milk bottles. Then, we gradually switched to all milk. Afterward, we began to switch to the sippy.

We did a little bit at a time in bottles (since the sippy cup thing isn't going over well and is taking longer than I anticipated). Say 2 ounces of milk in a 7-ounce bottle (which is the most our bottles will hold). Then I'd add a ounce or two every few days until they were completely on milk.

    Good luck to you :)

Sorry to hear of your struggles .. I'm sure they will get it when they are ready, Mom!

Btw, for what it's worth, we have found the best sippies to be the FYs 4-oz disposable cups. They have a hard spout, but they are perfect for them to hold. They love them. Right now they have only had water and juice in them ... but I don't have to help them at all unless I want them to really drink what's in there and quit messin' around.

I'm not looking forward to the change ... I'm finally in a comfortable position with bottle feeding. Only took 10 months to get here !

We had already switched two bottles to sippies, so were down to bottles for just morning and bedtime. At the 12-month checkup the ped gave us the OK to switch to milk, and we switched that night. We kept the two bottles (still have them at 13 months) but all the formula turned into milk. The girls didn't seem to even notice.

We only warm the milk for the bedtime bottles -- the rest are cold from the fridge. I don't think they even care, but DH wants to keep warming them because he thinks they find it more comforting.

Now they don't drink nearly as much milk as they did, though. At first it was exactly the same as their formula consumption had been, but over the past few weeks it's dropped a lot. I think this is a pretty common toddler thing -- they're just more interested in real food now, and also don't want to sit still for as long as it takes to drink more than 2-3 oz.
