How do you know it's time to switch from slow to medium flow nipples? Over the last two days, the boys' feedings have been steadily declining. They used to drink 5 oz pretty fast, easy. Now it's tough to even get 2-1/2 oz. in them at each feeding. Is that a sign that it's time for a faster flow nipple or do you think something else is going on?

yeah, i would give it a shot. they might be a little messier at first, because they won't be ready for the speed of the flow, but it sounds like they might be ready for a level 2. whenever feeds started to take a LOOONG time, i knew it was time to move up. good luck!

I would try the faster flow nipples. Do they have any trouble with reflux?

yes they do have reflux, but I "thought" the Zantac was working, as well as propping them up afterwards. Maybe i was wrong?

Yes, it could be a reflux issue. My babies were refusing to eat right around that age, and it turned out to be reflux. I would give the faster nipples a try, but if that is unsuccessful, I would call the ped.

We switched to the next flow up (Avent) at about 3 months and noticed a considerable difference... they were reflux babies, too, and had no issues with the change. I'd give it a try. My boys were much happier eaters with a faster flow... and they didn't take 45 minutes to finish their bottles lol

We switched at 2 months because they were always falling asleep on the bottle ... they took to it without any problems, and it did speed up feedings!

Thanks everyone - I'm convinced - the boys will get faster nipples this weekend to see if that helps.

    Thanks!!!!

my son started "snacking" - he'd drink 2 oz then stop then an hour later he'd be hungry again etc...it took me a while to figure out what he wanted but as soon as we switched it was like the light went on - why didn't I do this weeks ago?
