Today we tried to switch froM formula straight to whole milk but they just spit it out. What do you do in this case?

When we made the switch over from breastmilk to whole milk one of the babies drank it right up and the other one would take one sip, spit it out and throw it on the floor! This is what I did for her:

I would mix it. At first I would put mostly breastmilk with a little bit of whole and then every few days I would do less and less breastmilk and more whole milk. I would also warm it up in the microwave so that it was more the temperature she was used to. I would say that it took about a month but now she does straight cold milk. I'm pretty sure it would probably work with formula too.

    Good luck!

I second Shannon's advice! We did a gradual transition from formula to milk using the same method, and my guys never had a problem.

    Good luck! :)

I also did a gradual transition from formula to milk...I started them with half formula and half milk and reduced the formula amount a little each day until they were on whole milk. Good luck.
I also flavored the milk a little when they first were on just whole milk (just a tiny bit of syrup) and that also helped ease the transition. Good luck!

When we switched I did very slowly so they could get used to it. I would mix 1/4 milk with 3/4 formula and let them drink that for a couple of days, then 1/2 and 1/2 for a couple of days, then 3/4 milk and 1/4 formula for a couple of days, then all milk. This is what I did for all of my kids and they never had any stomach troubles or problems adjusting.

I agree with PP's. We did a gradual switch over from formula to full milk adding a little bit more with each passing week. The only problem we had is that one of my boys ended up with very bad constipation when he had full milk only for drinking (apart from water). So we've been back onto toddler/growing up milk for a while and are slowly doing the transition again.

I also did a gradual transition for them. When we switched from bottles to sippy cups it took them about 10 days before they were drinking the right amount from the sippy cups, but now they down 16-20 oz of milk a day easily!

I did like everyone else. In fact, we did it gradually over the period of a month. Increasing at a rate of about one ounce a day.

I made the switch much more quickly... only half formula for 3 days. I had to sweeten the milk with a small scoop of ovaltine (like 2tbs per 32oz) and I'm decreasing the ovaltine every day. Ryan will drink plain milk, but Michael is a bit more picky.

Just like PP's said, we are slowly transitioning over the course of a month, right now. We have only just begun, but so far it is going well.
