Switching from breast milk to formula

My bm supply is really running low--going back to work has killed me. So...I am going to have to start to supplement with some formula. I just tried to give some to DD and she screamed the entire time. I nursed her for 5 minutes and she drank like a champ...what do I do? Does she really not like the taste of the formula. Should I try another brand? Anyone else had this problem?

Does she take breast milk out of a bottle?

My guys were happier with the liquid concentrate than the powder. No idea why. I think it's a little sweeter?

Yes...she will take ebm out of a bottle without a fight, so it must be the formula?!?

I started getting my boys used to formula by making mixed bottles of ebm and formula. Maybe that'll help...that way it's a little more familiar. After a few weeks I started adding in more formula and a little less bm. I'm not pumping anymore and just bf in the mornings and night and my freezer stash is about gone so they'll be on formula for the most part here in a week or two and I think it'll be okay because they've gotten used to the formula.

My older DD was like this -- she never had formula 'til 10 months, and then really put up a fight -- she just hated the taste. Like a PP mentioned, we had better luck with the ready-to-pour stuff rather than the powder, not sure why.

I've also heard that Good Start tastes better -- or at least smells better -- than other brands, so maybe try that if you don't need to stick with a particular kind.

Like a PP, I've always mixed. My girls get 2 oz of formula with 4 oz of BM usually.

    They've never fussed about it.

    Hang in there!
