Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on switching from bottles to sippy cups? I have gotten the boys down to just 1 bottle (@ night) but they do not seem to want to give it up!!

    Welcome to the 2nd year!!

The only way that we were able to transition fully to Sippy's was to do away with the bottles cold turkey. The first couple of days were a little rough, but it has been smooth sailing ever since. Good Luck!! :good:

Welcome! We are in the same situation...just one bottle before bedtime. I'm in no rush to give this one up, but would love to hear suggestions on how others did it. I think I'm too chicken to do cold turkey, but I would certainly consider it.

:welcome: to the SY! I did the same as Krystyn, when it was time to drop bottles, we would replace that "bottle time" with a sippy cup. Good luck with how you decide to transition from bottles to sippies!

Welcome to SY! When we got rid of the bedtime bottles, we got special sippies (with Elmo on them) and those were their bedtime milk sippies. We just did sippies, teeth, bed instead of bottles, teeth, bed. We still do a sippy of milk before bed.

    Welcome to the second year!

We did the same - just got rid of the bottles. We actually just offered sippies all day, and then gave them water sippies to drink at night time. Whatever works for you, in terms of the time you offer the milk, should be fine! They might fuss and complain, or refuse to drink it for a day or two, but in the long run everything will be fine. :)

We did cold turkey at 10 months and it went great!
You might be suprised and even if they resist just be persistent. Im sure within a couple nights the problem will be solved!

Oh and I let my kids go to bed with a sippy of water. It definitely helps us!!!

What worked for us was going cold turkey but putting pediasure in their sippies. The pediasure is sweet so the girls gulped it down. GL on the transition!

I expected a full on revolt from the boys when we took the last bottle away. We had started with the noon bottle and then the breakfast bottle. I even waited until DH had the week off work so he would be home in the evenings to comfort my distraught boys. The first night DH handed out sippies while I was still cleaning up the post-bathtime mess. When I came out of the bathroom everything was peaceful. DH said they didn't even blink.

    You might be pleasantly surprised.

We are in the same boat. I have my 15 month olds down to one bottle at night. My little guy cried every day for 4 weeks when I gave him the sippy of milk. I haven't had the heart to take away the night time bottle. He shakes like an addict when he gets it. To be honest, I'm not sure I understand the rush to get rid of the bottles. Is it because of their teeth or just it needs to go? Regardless, it was painful for the whole family. I should have just done cold turkey but after my day starting with screaming, nap time sippy cup was a revolt, I just needed one feeding to go smoothly! Did you try it yet?
