I had my first midwife appointment today. It was fantastic! She is so patient and understanding, taking the time to answer all my questions, and explain everything. Nothing at all like my doctor. I am so, so glad I switched!

Because of the twins, a few things will be different than a regular pregnancy. I will be having "shared care" which means that my midwife will continue to be my primary caregiver but I will also see an OB throughout the pregnancy. Due to risk of complications, I have to give birth at the hospital (which we were planning on anyway) except that I will deliver in an OR even if I deliver vaginally in case of complications. My midwife will be there no matter what type of birth we end up with. I am still very scared of the idea of having a cesearean.

The midwife and I spend an hour talking and asking questions, it was very reassuring for me. She is concerned about the nausea and vomiting because I haven't put on any weight yet (I am 15 weeks as of yesterday). So if it continues and I still don't gain weight, she'll put me on Diclectin. I haven't thrown up the past 3 days so let's hope I'm finally getting over it.

We also got to hear both babies heartbeats! It was so cool. The first one was hard to find and she said we might not be able to find the second one, but went looking at found it right away, way on the other side of my belly. It was amazing, and I'm so glad I know the babies are still doing well in there.

Right now I'm waiting for her to contact the OB to see if I need another ultrasound before my 20 week one, to see if they can find a membrane and determine if the twins are monoamniotic or not.

    Hey Sam!

Yey! I'm so glad you'll be able to have shared care like I did. It really was awesome, the best of both worlds. Midwives rock.
For me, after the initial US where we found out it was twins, we didn't get another US until our 20week anatomy/detailed scan.

Hope you feel better and your morning sickness stops. Mine was strange: nothing in the first tri, then really bad through the second. I just had to make sure I never had an empty stomach. I had to eat a few crackers right away in the morning, and make sure that I sort of grazed through the day, and that seemed to prevent the vomiting.

Keep us posted on how things go!

Sounds promising! I had shared care too and loved it.

Hope you get in for that u/s soon. It's important to know whether your twins share a sac, and ideally you'd know if they share a placenta too. The earlier you get in the better for this, it gets harder to see as the twins grow.

Hope your MS continues to get better. Mine lasted longer than I expected too, until about 16 weeks. And I lost a couple pounds. But gained it back fast (and healthy) in the mid-2nd tri on. Get those babes lots of good food, especially protein!

    Best wishes!

Glad you're getting the support you need!

My MS during the 1st tri was terrible and I lost a lot of weight too. But the worse is over and I'm sure you'll be gaining back the weight in no time!

But don't be afraid to voice out ur worries and concerns here. We're all here to share and encourage one another!

How awesome of have found such a great MW! My m/s lasted til about 16 weeks like somebody else said. it was horrible! Hopefully it ends soon for you as well. And hopefully they find a membrane!

Oh, and a twin vag birth is totally possible! My twins were both delivered vaginally, med-free.
