I am trying to complete my registry- and have been reading so many mixed reviews about cradle swings. I decided to come ask the experts!
What swing do you have? Any problems? What would you recommend?
    Any advice is appreciated!

I had two Fisher Price travel swings. They are nice and didn't take up a ton of space! I have also seen something similar to a snap-n-go stroller, only it's a swing. You just pop the carseat in there...kinda cool, and very portable! I think it's made by Graco.

We also have travel swings...they are awesome! I got 2 full size ones but the babies were so light when they came home I swear it was gonna swing them all the way over.

Same here! I really like them but my little ones are too big now. So now I am selling. I loved these just because they are so easy to pack and go.

I've got the Fisher Price swing below. One of my girls is totally addicted to it. She loves to look up at the mirror and music. One of the things I like best about it is the reclining seat. I don't know if she would be happy with any old swing but this has totally been a lifesaver.

I have the Rainforest cradle swing & a cheaper Fisher Price swing that someone gave me used. My girls have outgrown the swings, but they loved the rainforest swing. They'd stare at the mobile animals & laugh at them sometimes. I loved being able to switch the swing motion from front/back to side/side. When the girls were really little, the side to side swinging would put them right to sleep!

Whatever you decide to get, my advice would be to get 2 different ones. I got 2 different swings, exersaucers, bouncy seats. That way you have twice as many things to entertain them with!

We have the Rainforest swings. The babies love them, and you can plug them into the outlet so you don't have to use batteries!

I have the Fisher Price Papasan and my babies love it....so much so that I am weening them off of it right now :p It goes back and forth or side to side, but the babies just love the side to side better for some reason. I guess it makes them feel more secure and seems to sooth them better.

I have the fisherprice aquarium travel swing. They LOVED it the first few months but now they really don't have an interest in it. They enjoy the bouncy seat more. I think they don't like the travel swing as much now because it only lights up for a couple of seconds and plays music when they pull on the fish.

We had the rainforest swing and the girls loved it. It has an electrical plug-in so it definately saves on batteries. And the girls loved the bright colors and the mobile.

I know we're exceptions to the norm, but my boys both hate the Fisher Price Baby Papasan Swing AND the 2 travel swings we have. Thy are bouncy kids all the way!

we have the fisher price acquarium swing which a friend lent us (nice savings!) - but i'd buy it in a minute (check craigslist for used ones). The side-to-side motion REALLY soothed them; they'd sleep in it for a long tiem we also had an older graco model that only went forward and back and the the seat didn't have the same kind of comforting cradle/hug aspect.

I'd definitely say try to get some used if possible - i havent tried the rainforest one, but savings on batteries would be good' we went througha ton. If you do go that way, just make sure that the configuration of the room where you will put them will allow access to an outlet. And keep in imind that unless you have a really big house, ANY room is going tos tart to look cluttered once you've got all the gear in there!
    good luck!

The portable swings do the job perfectly and don't take up all the room in your house!

I just wanted to echo that we have 2 of the rainforest ones ... the kids loved them, although now don't spend nearly as much time in them ... but I loved the plug-in feature! We never had to worry about batteries ... except one day when we lost power, and then we used batteries in it. It swings both ways, has a decent recline .. i would look into registering for them ... and if you don't get both as gifts, maybe then look into getting a used one.

I have this travel swing: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?p...=2501253&cp

And a lovin hug graco full size swing.

I like the music on the boppy swing so much better than the creepy organ music of the graco, but the graco holds up to 30lbs, so that might be a consideration. The boppy swing also takes up very little room. -Leighann

Some kids love swings, like my oldest, he could have lived in his, and some kids hate them, like my twins. That is why I usualy recommend not buying two of them right away. (and also the cost) I would make sure they both like them before investing or having someone else invest in two swings. The same with bouncies and excersaucers. We did end up using two bouncers, borrowed another from a friend. And we had two excersaucers, one doorway jumper, one swing, and one activity play mat. I would just alternate them around. Not all kids like the same things....

Hope you find what you like!

I would recommend not buying 2 swings and try to find them second hand if possible. My twins hate their swings. We have the Graco lovin hug meridian. We bought 2 and wasted lots of money. The only time they will sit in them is if they are asleep when I put them in there.

    Good luck

We rarely used our swing. We only had one. It was given to us as a hammy down from a friend. I think it was an older Graco swing.

We only have 1 swing, it's the one I had for my son, the Aquarium cradle swing, love it. We will probably be getting the battery adapter from Radio Shack, since we went through several packs of batteries and now with the twins using the swing, will be more than more than a couple packs of batteries.

That's a good point that someone else made. We got both of our swings off our registry, but we only opened and set up one of them. I was worried that if they both hated them, it was a lot of money wasted. It wasn't until I saw how much they BOTH loved it that I went ahead and opened the second one. That's probably a good thing to do with a lot of the duplicate items. Open one of each and see what they like. BRU will take it back for store credit at ANY time.

Same here, we had the aquarium swing and it SAVED OUR SANITY in the beginning. Someone suggested that we start with one swing to see if one twin or the other don't like it. Both loved it, and the music put them to sleep every single time, so we borrowed a second fisher price swing (a plainer version) from someone else. Side by side, they could both hear the music, so it didn't matter. We didn't use THAT many batteries either, I think I expected it to be worse than it was. But 2 thumbs up on the aquarium swing and if you don't get it for your shower, try to buy one second hand (we did, half price) and borrow another, or check consignment stores or baby garage sales.
