Swings used to be the ladies favorite things, but now that they are rolling they don't want any part of them. We put away one of the swings (the little travel one) a month ago when the batteries ran out and I didn't have any c-cells in the house. Now the big graco, the one that can be used up to 30lbs (a big selling point- or so I thought), is taking up a big portion of my living room. But every time I put one of them in it, they cry until I take them out.

They used to LOVE to swing and would sometimes fall asleep in it for their third (cat) nap of the day. Now they just want to be on the floor on a blanket with toys or in their high chairs watching mom or dad.

So at what age did your kiddos reject the swing? Should I pack it up and put in the shed or will they rediscover it? Should I sell it at my motc swap next month? -Leighann

I think I stopped using mine (I borrowed one from a friend, I never had one for my oldest and didn't miss it either) around 6 months or so when all my ds would do is grab (and almost break) the toys hanging above his head. They also started to roll over in bouncy seats, so at that point I figured they were getting too big. Now the exersaucer is our "new swing", but I am going to get rid of that one soon too. They're just happy playing on the floor. I am happy I had it though, one was enough ... mine never slept in it either, well, maybe the first 3-4 weeks, but not afterwards.

My guys were attached to their swing. I was still putting Zack in it at 13 months... I quit then because he was WAY to big for it.

we haven't used our all summer. i'd say around 5-6 months when they started to get mobile? i think we wil hold onto our smaller travel swing (they bothliked it better anyway) "just in case" we have another! ;) but luckily a neighbor is having a garage sale this week and we are gonig to have her sell our BIG one that, yes, takes up TONS of space. once they can get around on their own, i think they want nothing to do with being "restrained"!

We got rid of the swings around 7 months. I consigned mine.

Mine will still nap in them, but if they aren't tired they don't view it as "entertaining" anymore. They would rather be sitting on the floor with toys. We have loved our swing, but I think the end of the "swinging" days is near.

we used ours for sleeping until 4 months when they went into the cribs - and after that it wasn't useful anymore but for the first 4 months it was the ONLY way anyone got any sleep in my house!

My swings were in the basement by 11 weeks. The babies weren't entertained or soothed by them and I was ready to have some floor space back (until we broke out the exersaucers, that is).
