I'm going to be registering for my baby shower soon and I'm trying to figure out what I will need. Space is an issue in our house, so I was thinking of getting 2 travel swings instead of the big ones and also the booster seat kind of high chairs instead of the big ones. Do you think I'll regret not having the big ones? I keep going back and forth on it. I figure, all you twin mommies would be the ones to ask.

    Thanks for any advice!

Don't know about the high chairs yet. I have two that are waiting in my dining room, but haven't really had to use them yet.

As far as the travel swings, I would say yes, get the travel swings. My boys like that better than the big papasan swing that I have. I have also been able to take my travel swing with me when I go places like to my mom's house. This is really helpful.

With all 3 of my kids I used the take along swings and booster seats. Never regretted it one bit! Personally, I think the big versions of both are a waste of space and money. The only that I did learn is don't waste your money on the take along swing with all the lights and music. We ran through batteries like crazy if we used them so we rarely did. Plus my girls mostly slept in them anyways. I purchased a 2nd take along swing without the lights and music when I had the twins and I liked it more.

I have the booster high chairs and love them. I would say go with the take along swings. We bought 2 of them and they have never liked them, or any swing for that matter.

I have the booster chairs and love them as well! Seriously, you don't need big ginormous high chairs!

I had a regular size swing and a travel swing. I was pleased with both of them. The travel swing was nice because you could take it with you and it was much smaller. The big swing could be reclined though.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the take along swings. We only used those and we used them forever. They were a life saver, as ours did not like the bouncy seats. And I would register for the smaller feeding chairs instead of two large high chairs. High chairs just take up way too much space!

FWIW, I would think about only starting out with one swing. Both of my babies hated the swing, and I'm so glad that I only bought one instead of two. Or you could register for two, and leave one in the box until the babies got home to see if they like it before putting it together. We had a take along swing as well and at first I thought that was why they didn't like it, but they tried the big swing at my cousin's house, and hated that one too!!

i am starting off with one swing and one bouncy seat. both my older kids (not twins) lived in the swing and bouncy to the point that i will have to get new ones when these kids come along. especially with my eldest, these two items were life savers.
i have to say i tried a travel swing and i thought they were real flimsy and i didnt like how close they were to the ground. this is especially important since i have a 4 and a 2.5 year old that will be around and the higher swing will offer some more "protection".

I really like my big Evenflo highchairs, BUT space at our table is limited for more boosters (with 3 big kids at the table already). I like mine because I can wheel them over to the kitchen while I cook and give them a few cherrios (we have a seperate dining area I can not see while cooking) and they are very content sitting in them. That being said I really liked the boosters with my big kids and would use them now if we had a bigger table. The boosters are also really easy to clean! I also got both of mine for gifts so I didnt have to spend a dime on them, that was nice. As for swings I never got the travel ones and actually lugged BOTH of my big swings around when I went out of town in the 1st 4 months!!! I think I would go with the travel variety if I had to do it over again, but I have never used them so I dont know how they work.

We got both of those exact things, with my son I love the travel swing because I could really put it anywhere in the house and it stayed close to my bed. I have registered for two and we bought the seats that fit in our chairs for space reasons as well I am pretty sure it was the best choice I have made.

I must be in the minority but my boys LOVE their Fisher Price Papisan swing that goes side to side and front to back. I had a travel swing that was made by Boppy that they used for a little while when they were really little but it seemed like it never really got going and they grew out of it really fast. My boys still nap in their big swing sometimes when they are fussy I couldn't have lived without it. As for high chairs everyone recommends the booster seats. I have a full sized Baby Trend high chair that I love but we didn't use it until they were about 6 months and I do agree they take up a lot of space.

BTW: mine didn't really start using swings until they were about 6 weeks old, before that they lived in their baby papisan chairs.

We have those and we love them. The babies have ben coming to the table with us since they were 2-3 months old. It tilts back so they can sit in them just fine. :) They loved coming to the table with us and watching us talk about our days. ;) I did not want the big ones and i wanted them at the table with us and they are.

Swings - i had one swing and then someone gave me a cheap one after the babis were born and it was nice but Beau never loved the swing as he was content anywhere. Savannah slept everyday for 4 months in her papsan swing for a nap... I say start with one or like someone else said do not take them both out of the box till you know.

    good luck!

I did decide to get two full size swings though and am glad for it. they take up a lot of space but the girls napped in them forever.

We had a full size swing that did the front to back and side to side motion. DD loved it, DS could have cared less. We also had a travel swing for when we went places and it worked out okay. I wasn't a big fan of it (mine seemed really unstable) and my DD who loved her full size swing wasn't nearly as happy in it.

As far as highchairs, we have two full size ones and love them. We use the booster seat ones when we travel and don't like them as much. It is probably what you get used to though and if you use the booster type from the beginning, that should work fine. If you have the room, I would recommend the full size ones though.

We had two different types of travel swings and they both didn't work well once the babies got over 12 lbs or so. They just didn't have the strength to swing the babies well enough. We had one big swing that was a hand-me-down and the kids preferred that much more than the travel swings. If I were you I register for one big swing, two bouncers, and two of the reclining booster seats.
