We're going to start taking the boys swimming soon (sorry for those of you trapped indoors in the cold!) and I was wondering what you do about diapers. I bought them some adorable shark swim trunks, but I'm not sure if they need some type of swim diapers or not. What did you do or would you do?

Well, you can either buy Little Swimmers in the diaper section, or reusable cloth swim diapers. I know Target carries the reusable swim diapers and that's what I use. The thing to remember with swim diapers is that they do not absorb liquid (like pee) so keep that in mind before you buckle them into their car seats and take them home. Don't pull a Jenny.

We use the disposable ones you can get at the grocery.

Get the reusable cloth swim diapers! They are great and so cute that you will hate to cover them with a swimsuit! Like Jenny said though they don't absorb anything so make sure to use a regular diaper before and after or you will have a mess!!! You can use disposable swimming diapers they are also not absorbant... I guess the basic principle behind a swim diaper is that the poop doesn't get out into the pool... the pee is another story ;)

This is hilarious that this post came up today because we just took the girls swimming for the first time today (indoor pool, Im in freezing MN), and I thought "oh lets just leave the swim diapers on until we get home since they havent had them on long." I had NO idea they don't absorb pee.....we stopped by DH's office and as I was sitting at his computer with Naomi on my lap I felt the warm wetness on my leg. Fantastic.

I bought suits with built in washable swim diapers (iswim is the brand name). But first, check with the pool you are taking them to. I found different pools to have different rules about what they require for babies.
