I have a question for all you twin mommies. How many of you are experiencing swelling (feet and hands)? I also mild high blood pressure? Have any you gone through that and still carry til at 37 or 38 weeks? I'm getting nervous because I do not want my babies to come early but I'm scared I will develop pre-e my doc are monitoring me closely and took me out work last week.

I had swelling (you name it, it was swollen) towards the end - like the last 2 weeks (I delivered by scheduled c-section at 38 w 4d). My drs also kept a close eye on me I was going twice a week at that point. My peri told me that swelling can actually be a sign that you are not drinking enough water. If I were you, I would drink water and as soon as I could, I would call the dr just to let them know you are having swelling trouble!!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I had swelling of the legs, feet and hands once I hit about 18 weeks. My doctor always checked my BP (though I did not have a history of HBP) and recommended that I drink a lot of water and when the swelling got bad in the legs to keep them as propped up as much as I could. Usually when I had my legs propped up the swelling would go down. The OB told me that they would be concerned if my swelling did not go down after propping my legs up. I delievered at 38 weeks. If you are concerned about the swelling, definitely call your doctor about it. Good luck!

My feet and ankles started swelling at 28 weeks. It got worse every day and nothing helped; elevation, compression socks, etc. It got so painful that I begged my husband to just pop my feet like a ballon. My toes turned white and red from the pressure of the swelling by the end of each day.

My OB monitored me very closely and I had two NST each week from 32 weeks on. I ended up developing pre-eclampsia at 36 weeks and my bloodwork came back bad, so I was told to go directly to the hospital to be induced. The funny thing was that when I got there I was already in labor. I had been having cramping since the day before, which the nurse said was from my pelvic exam. My labor did slow in the middle of the night, so they did have to put me on petocin (spelling?).

Max and Lily were born vaginally the next afternoon, but Lily was breech. After 11 minutes of not being able to turn her, my doctor said I can grab her feet and pull her out or we can wheel you down for a c-section. I said pull her out because I was not going to have two types of delivery with my twins. We were only in the hospital for 2 days with no NICU time.

I hate to tell you that the swelling in my feet and ankles didn't go away totally until about 7 weeks after delivery. I thought it would be gone right away, but I was wrong. The weird thing was one foot when back to normal before the other one.

Good luck with your delivery and I hope you make it to 38 weeks. I hope my story didn't scare you. You asked, so I told you my expeirence.
