Alright so I know that swelling in your ankles and feet are normal. I just started getting fluid in them last week and each day they get worse and worse. I try and prop my feet up but its hard to do at work. Well ever since yesterday my left foot is 5X larger then my right foot. Both swollen but Left is so much greater! Is this normal and ok? Has anyone else had this?! I am 30 weeks and 2 days!

I heard of another woman who had one foot much larger than the other, and all was okay for her.

It can be a sign of preeclampsia though (swelling more on one side than the other), so I would call your Dr to let them know what's going on :)

Thanks Ladies. I called and they asked me to come in to get BP taken. I did and it was on the high side of 148/81 so they told me to come in and get monitored. They monitored the babies for about 4 hour taken my BP every 15 minutes which went up and down. Tested my pee for protein said not signs of preclampsia but gestational hypertension. TOld me to follow up with my doctor in a week. Hope I am not going to be put on BED rest. I have made it so far with out it!

first of all CONGRATULATIONS on your babies!!!!

My doctor also told me that swelling can be that you are actually not drinking enough water. I thought I was drinking enough to :drown: but I started to swell and my dr told me to drink even more. Also do you catch yourself sitting or laying on your left side more than the right? maybe that is why that side swells more than the other?? I am glad your doctor is keeping a close eye on you!

I had terrible swelling with both pregnancies and pretty much had to do diuretics throughout as well as ensuring that I kept my feet elevated as much as possible. By elevated, that meant above heart level so if you're in bed, use pillows to prop up; on the sofa, put your head down on the lower part and your feet up on the arm...has to be above heart level. Plus, hubby would massage my feet, ankles, calves, and hands to help push the fluid back up. I also drank tons of water and really watched salt/msg consumption too.

Never affected my bp though...glad you're being closely monitored though.

I went back yesterday for the swelling getting worse but it is in botn feet ankles legs now not just one! But she just said to drink more water.
I never thought about that--I feel like I drink enough water I drink about 5-6, 16oz of water a day. Sometimes more than that! How much water do you guys drink? how much is enough?!?
